Jesus In The Pulpit

20 Dec

Jesus In The Pulpit…

Luke 4:16 says, ‘as was His custom, He (Jesus) entered the synagogue on the Sabbath.’ It was His custom. There are bad customs and traditions, but there are also good ones.

If Jesus had customs and we’re to live in imitation of His life, then we also had to have good, holy customs and godly habits. Start developing good habits and customs, such as the habit of daily prayer, daily time in the Word, and the daily doing of good works.

Practice the habit of saying no to temptation and to anything else that’s questionable. Make it a habit and as a priority of yours to share the Gospel, of not compromising, and of applying the Word to your life every day.

Develop a zeal for the habit of forgiveness, joy, peace, faithfulness, gentleness, and goodness. Let it be said of you and of your time on earth that you followed the good, you became good, and you did well all the days of your life as was your custom.

Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.  Daniel 6:10

Today, set out to develop daily and life-long habits that will bless your life and lead you to become the person God called you to be.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Trust and Hope

Trust and Hope…

Good morning!

As we embrace this new day, let us turn our hearts to a message of trust and hope from Matthew 6:34. May this scripture inspire us to live fully in the present, embracing God’s grace in every moment.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.   Matthew 6:34

In Matthew 6:34, Jesus gently reminds us to set aside our worries about the future and live fully in the present. This message is a heartening call to trust in God’s loving plan. It speaks to the beauty and simplicity of faith, where each day is entrusted to God’s care. We often get entangled in the what-ifs of tomorrow, yet Jesus encourages us to lean on God’s strength today, for He holds all our tomorrows.

Living out this scripture means embracing each day with gratitude and a heart open to God’s guidance. It’s about recognizing that while we can’t see the entire path ahead, we can take confident steps, knowing God is with us. Let this verse inspire us to cherish today, find peace in God’s presence, and trust in His unfailing love for our future.

In what ways can you be more present and grateful for the blessings and lessons of this moment?

Gracious Father, As I step into today, help me remember that each moment is a gift from You, not to be overshadowed by the worries of what tomorrow might bring. Guide me to trust more deeply in Your provision and care, finding peace in the knowledge that You’re with me, through every up and down. May my heart be light, my spirit joyful, and my mind focused on the blessings You pour into this day. Let me spread kindness and hope, grounded in the faith that You hold all my tomorrows. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows; it empties today of its strength.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Life Saving Words

19 Dec

Life Saving Words…

Paul wrote in 1 Timothy: ‘Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy… Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am the worst.’ In effect, Paul is saying, ‘I was wrong.”

He not only said that at the end of his life, he undoubtedly said it, acted on it, manifested it, and lived it from the moment he encountered God on the road to Damascus onward…

It all started there with three words: I was wrong. Had he never been able to say those words, he would’ve never been forgiven, given a ministry, and been able to preach the Word, write the epistles, and change the world. In fact, everything he ever said or wrote all rested on three initial words: I was wrong.

Those powerful words turned the chief of sinners into the foremost of apostles. Those words in the grace of God will set you free from the old and open up your life to the healing and glory of God. It all begins when you say, “I was wrong.”

In what way were you less privileged than the rest of the churches, except that on my part, I did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong!  2 Corinthians 12:13

Today, if you have a situation that calls for it, don’t be afraid to say, “I was wrong.”

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Bless and Pray

18 Dec

Bless and Pray…

Good morning. Today, let’s discover the freedom found in blessing others, even when it’s hard.

Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Luke 6:28

There’s a weight that comes with hurt. Words that wound, actions that betray, people who disappoint—these can feel like burdens we carry long after the moment passes. Naturally, we want to hold on to our pain, maybe even justify anger or distance. But Jesus invites us to drop that weight. He doesn’t just tell us to forgive—He calls us to bless and to pray.

At first, this feels upside-down, doesn’t it? Blessing someone who has cursed you? Praying for someone who mistreats you? It seems like weakness, but in reality, it’s a display of God’s strength within you. When you pray for those who hurt you, you invite God into the broken places. You surrender the need to fix, punish, or carry it alone.

Prayer doesn’t always change the other person immediately, but it changes you. It softens bitterness, lifts heavy burdens, and reminds you of who God is—merciful, just, and able to heal even the deepest wounds.

Today, take a step of faith. Name that person in prayer. Ask God to bless them, even if it’s hard. Because this kind of love—His kind of love—is the key to your own freedom. It sets you free.

Who has God placed on your heart to bless today?

How might your own heart change if you began praying for those who’ve hurt you?

Dear Father, You see the weight I’ve been carrying—the hurt, the disappointment, the unspoken pain. Today, I choose to trust You with it. I lift up the ones who’ve caused this hurt. Bless them, Lord. Heal their hearts and mine. Replace bitterness with Your peace and my weakness with Your strength. Thank you for the mercy You’ve shown me time and time again. Help me reflect that same mercy to others, even when it’s hard. I trust You to work in ways I can’t see and to bring beauty from what’s broken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The Real You

18 Dec

The Real You…

In one Beetle Bailey comic strip, Beetle was asked if he’d like to have been Abraham Lincoln. He answers, “Sarge, I’m having a hard enough time just being me.”  I’m sure we all wondered during our lives what it would be like to be someone else.

When you die, you will not be asked why you weren’t Paul or some other great Christian leader. God made you precious and unique. Nobody else can fulfill your calling, nor can you fulfill the calling of anybody else.

So when you try to be somebody else instead of yourself, you become a second-rate imitation. When you try to fulfill somebody else’s calling instead of your own, you actually sin against God because He didn’t make you to be somebody else.

The holiest thing you can do is be the best, godliest, on fire for the Lord you that you can be. And you can be, for it is written I can do all things through Jesus who strengthens me.

So forget about what everybody else is doing, and focus on being faithful to God’s calling for your life. Be yourself in His grace and your life instead of ending up a second-rate imitation. Be a first-rate original.

But as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all your conduct.  1 Peter 1:15

There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice. Today, forget about what everybody else is doing or saying or thinking, and focus instead on just being faithful to God’s calling for your life.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Immeasurable Power

17 Dec

Immeasurable Power…

Today, be reminded that even your smallest prayers tap into the immeasurable power of God, who is at work within you, ready to do more than you could ever ask or imagine.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.
Ephesians 3:20

Sometimes, it’s the quietest prayers that echo the loudest.

The whispered, “Help me make it through today.” The tears that fall between ‘I can’t” and “Please.” The dreams we hold so close we barely dare to whisper them. In these raw, honest moments, we often hold back, don’t we? We ask for just enough—just enough grace to survive, just enough light to see the next step.

But tucked within Ephesians 3:20 is a promise that shatters our small expectations. The same power that ignited the stars that burst forth from the grave that holds every galaxy in place—that very power is alive within us. Not just beside us, not just for us, but in us.

Right now, in your waiting, in your uncertainty, in your impossible—that power is at work. Where you see dead ends, He sees doorways. Where you see barriers, He sees breakthroughs.

Today, let this truth take root in your heart: Every ending in your hands becomes a beginning in His. Your impossible is just the opening chapter of His miracle story. And right now, even as you read these words, He’s already writing the next page.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for hearing even the faintest whispers of my heart—the dreams I barely dare to speak and the fears I struggle to release. When I feel weak and weary, remind me that Your power—the very power that ignited the stars and conquered death—lives within me. I lay my impossible at Your feet, trusting You to do immeasurably more than I could ever ask or imagine. Where I see dead ends, open my eyes to Your new beginnings. Write my story, Lord, according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

There are three stages to every great work of God; first, it is impossible, then it is difficult, then it is done.

Examining The Fruit of our Lives

17 Dec

Examining The Fruit of our Lives…

As believers, it’s essential to inspect the fruit of our lives. While I may not know much about selecting fruit at the supermarket, I can pretend to be an expert. However, when it comes to the fruit of the Spirit, we must be genuine.

In Galatians, we’re told that the fruit of the Spirit includes love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities should be the hallmark of our lives, not anger, bitterness, selfishness, or other negative traits.

It’s time for a honest self-examination. Take a close look at the fruit your life is producing. Are you bearing good fruit or bad?

Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  Matthew 7:17

Today, take an honest look at your life and make any necessary adjustments to produce good fruit. Remember, the quality of your fruit will be evident on the day of judgment when you stand before the Final Fruit Inspector.

He Has Plans For You

16 Dec

He Has Plans For You…

As we start this new day, let’s open our hearts to receive a timely reminder: God has beautiful plans for our lives. In seasons of uncertainty, this truth anchors us.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 isn’t just a comforting verse—it’s God’s love letter to the weary and brokenhearted. Picture receiving this promise while living in exile, far from everything familiar, with hope fading. And then, God’s voice breaks through the silence: “Even here, especially here, I have a plan for you.”

Like those exiles, we all experience seasons when life unravels—when our carefully laid plans crumble and we’re left wondering what’s next. Yet, even in the chaos, God’s promise remains unshaken. His plan may not always align with our own desires or timelines, but it is always woven with purpose, hope, and anchored in His unchanging love. Trusting Him doesn’t guarantee an easy road, but it assures us that each step—especially the missteps—are guided by His hand.

Your life is a story that God is writing. Right now, you may be in a chapter of uncertainty or pain, but remember: the best authors use these moments to shape the most beautiful endings.

Whatever season you’re in today, place your fears, your dreams, and your doubts in His hands. The struggle you’re facing isn’t the final word—it’s the foundation for a comeback that only God can script, a future brighter than you can imagine.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unchanging love and perfect plans for my life. Forgive me when I try to take control, forgetting that You are the author of my story. Calm my heart when I’m tempted to fear what I don’t understand. Guide my steps, hold my heart, and lead me through each moment. Even when I can’t see the full picture, help me trust that You are working all things for my good. You are my peace, my hope, and my strength. In You, I know my future is safe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God’s plans for your life far exceed the circumstances of your day.

Walk daily with God at your side!

The Hebrew Meaning of Fatherhood

16 Dec

The Hebrew Meaning of Fatherhood…

The Hebrew word for “father” is “av,” composed of the aleph and bet letters, representing an ox and a house. Thus, a father is the ox of the house, embodying strength and bearing ultimate responsibility.

As a father, you are called to be the strength of your family, a blessing from God. However, be cautious not to let your strength turn into stubbornness driven by anger, bitterness, or pride. Instead, channel your stubbornness into love, compassion, and mercy.

Tenderness, humility, and a willingness to apologize are essential qualities for a father. Be strong and stubborn in your love for those who rely on you, just as God is stubborn in His love for you.

Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.  Luke 6:26

Today, strive to be stubborn in love, faith, joy, and righteousness.

Walk daily with God by your side!

Love always,

Learned Through Living

Learned Through Living…

Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You.
Psalm 9:10.   Good morning! Today, let’s open our hearts to God, seeking Him earnestly, and find the trust that He promises.

Some truths can only be learned through living them. Like the way a child discovers their parent’s love not through words alone, but through countless moments of being caught when falling, comforted when hurting, guided when lost.

That’s what lies at the heart of David’s words. Through victories that left him breathless with praise and valleys that drove him to his knees, he discovered something precious about the Lord’s name. This wasn’t knowledge found in scrolls or ceremonies—it was truth carved deep by experience: every time he sought the Lord, he found Him faithful.

That’s why he could write with such certainty: those who know His name will trust in Him. Not because they’re commanded to trust, but because they’ve discovered something too real to doubt. Throughout history, the testimony remains unshaken—the Lord has never turned away a seeking heart.

Today, let this truth lift your spirit: your seeking will always find Him. The Lord who has never turned away a searching heart stands ready to be known by yours.

What experiences in your life have taught you the most about God’s faithfulness?

Father, I need You. Sometimes I get so busy trying to figure things out on my own that I forget to simply come to You. Forgive me for that. Your Word says that those who know Your name will trust You, and I want that to be true in my life. Help me to know You more—not just the facts about You, but Your heart, Your character, Your presence in my everyday moments. Show me what it means to truly trust in Your name, to find my refuge and strength in You alone. I’m seeking You today, Father. Reveal Yourself to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to find you, conduct pleasing to you, faithful perseverance in waiting for you, and a hope of finally embracing you. Amen.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
