His Purpose Prevails

His Purpose Prevails…

Good morning!

When our carefully crafted plans shift, God’s unwavering purpose remains. Let this devotional encourage you to trust the One who sees beyond every detour.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Proverbs 19:21

It’s written in birthday wishes and New Year’s resolutions. Whispered in late-night prayers and morning devotions. Sketched in margins and typed in notes: “This is how it should go, Lord. This is what I need.”

We plan because we care deeply. About that child who’s struggling. That relationship is breaking. That decision could change everything. We search for the right steps, the perfect timing, the way to make things work. After all, isn’t that what responsible Christians do?

But there’s freedom hidden in this proverb – not in having no plans but in holding them with open hands. Because the story of Scripture whispers a deeper truth: Joseph didn’t plan for prison to be his path to purpose. Ruth didn’t plan for a loss to lead her to legacy. David didn’t plan for his years of running to shape him into a king.

Your plans aren’t failing when they fall apart. They’re falling into the hands of a Father who sees what you can’t, knows what you don’t, and loves you more than you can imagine.

Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes, I hold my plans so tightly, thinking I know best. But you see every detour and weave beauty into the unexpected. When life shifts or dreams unravel, remind me that You did the same for Joseph, Ruth, and David—leading them to a purpose beyond what they imagined. Help me release my grip and trust your loving hand to shape my future. Assure my heart that no path is wasted when I walked with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes, there is a God who hasn’t surrendered His authority.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

The Flowing Life

The Flowing Life…

Are you living a life that flows with joy, peace, and purpose, or are you feeling driven, stressed, and compelled by circumstances? Isaiah 55:12 promises that when you’re led by God’s Spirit, you’ll go out with joy and be led forth with peace.

The Hebrew word “yabal” means to flow like a river, and it’s used to describe the leading of God’s Spirit. When you’re living in harmony with God’s Spirit, your life will flow with love, faith, mercy, kindness, joy, and peace.

On the other hand, a life driven by fear, anger, jealousy, and depression is stagnant and lacking in flow. It’s only when you’re led by God that you’ll experience the smooth, effortless flow of His Spirit.

See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the wilderness I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers. Isaiah 43:19

Today, choose to follow the leading of the Lord. Allow His peace to guide you, and flow forth in His Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to surrender to Your leading and allow Your Spirit to flow through me. I want to experience the joy, peace, and purpose that comes from being led by You. Forgive me for trying to control my life and circumstances. I trust that Your ways are higher than mine, and I surrender to Your leading. Fill me with Your Spirit, and let my life flow with love, kindness, mercy, and joy. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

I Can

I Can…

Have you ever felt like your faith is insignificant or inadequate? Perhaps you’ve prayed for something, hoping for a miracle, but wondered if your faith is enough to make a difference.

Then he touched their eyes and said, ‘Because of your faith, it will happen.’
Matthew 9:29

Jesus’ words in Matthew 9:29 offer us a profound encouragement: “Because of your faith, it will happen.” Reflect on the story of two blind men who dared to trust Jesus, despite their uncertain circumstances. They didn’t have perfect faith or flawless lives, but they brought their small amount of trust to Jesus, and He transformed their lives.

This verse invites us to examine our own hearts. Have past disappointments diminished our expectations of God’s power? Have we settled for a comfortable, superficial faith instead of one that radically transforms?

Today, let’s choose to believe again. Bring your deepest longings, your painful struggles, and your seemingly insurmountable challenges to Jesus. Your faith, no matter how small, is precious to God and has the power to unlock His miraculous love in your life.

Remember, Jesus isn’t seeking perfection; He’s looking for trust.

What situation in your life requires a boost of faith today?
How can you trust God more, even when the outcome is uncertain?

Dear God, Thank You for loving me despite my frail faith. When I’m overwhelmed and uncertain, remind me that it’s not about having all the answers or being perfect – it’s about trusting You with every fragment of faith I possess. Today, help me bring my worries, hopes, and dreams to You. Grant me the courage to trust that You’re working, even when I can’t see it. Let my heart rest in the assurance that You’re with me and that every step of faith I take has significance to You. Thank You for loving me, even in my doubts. I’m grateful You’re always here. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Faith is the courage to take the next step, even when the path ahead is uncertain.

Walk daily with God at your side!

The Sacred Fringe

27 Jan

The Sacred Fringe…

Malachi 4:2 says, “…the Son of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings.” That Hebrew word, in this text, for wings is Kanaph. Kanaph is also the name of a sacred fringe called tzitzit that is on the tallit or prayer shawl of Jewish men.

Jesus wore them on the corners of His garments in obedience to the Scripture. The woman with the issue of blood was speaking about the Kanaph or the Tzitzit when she said, “If I can just touch His garment, I will be healed.”

When Malachi says the Son of Righteousness (which is Jesus) will rise with healing in His wings, the healing is to come in the fringe of His garment! You can be healed! Jesus’s Kanaph can be touched.

If you want to be healed, don’t focus so much on the healing, but on Jesus. Grab hold of His sacred fringe. For blessings come not when you focus on blessings but when you focus on Him and grab hold. For the Son of Righteousness will arise with healing in the fringe of His garment.

Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your disease.  Mark 5:34

Today, grab hold of Jesus, come under His wings, and receive His healing.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in faith, seeking healing and restoration. I grab hold of Jesus’ sacred fringe, trusting in His power and love. May Your healing touch be upon me, and may I experience Your peace and wholeness. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Healing may not always mean cure, but it always means being made whole.

Love always,

Increase

26 Jan

Increase…

King Ahaz was an ungodly king of Judah and the father of Hezekiah. He closed the temple, sold the sacred treasures, and set up idols for worship. Enemy armies repeatedly defeated him, leaving the nation decimated.

The people were poor and barely surviving. When Ahaz died, Hezekiah took over. He was raised in all that dysfunction, compromise, and defeat. But Hezekiah did just the opposite of his father. He reopened the temple, tore down the idols, brought the people back to worshiping God.

The Lord answered his prayers and defeated enemy armies. The nation flourished again with God’s favor and blessing, and God increased  greatly.

When you keep God first place, there is a blessing on your life that causes you to prosper. Instead of living worried about how you’re going to make it, keep honoring God, keep being a good steward of what He’s given you.

Hezekiah was very wealthy and highly honored. He built special treasury buildings for his silver, gold, precious stones, and spices, and for his shields and other valuable items…for God had given him great wealth.
2 Chronicles 32:27–29, NLT

Take the limits off Him and have an abundant mentality. God has favor coming that will cause you to increase, to rise higher, to accomplish things beyond your own ability. He takes pleasure in doing so.

Father, thank You for the blessings that always follow when I walk in humility and put You first in all my ways. Show me if there is anything that is holding me back from the abundant life You have promised. I believe that Your favor will be poured out on my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Faith is the bird that feels the light when the dawn is still dark. This emphasizes the importance of having faith and trusting in God’s plan, even when things seem uncertain or difficult. It encourages us to hold on to hope and believe that God’s light will shine through, just like Hezekiah’s story.

Steady and True

Steady and True…

Good morning,

As we step into today, let’s remember that no matter what life throws our way, God’s love remains steady and true. Whether in moments of joy or in times of trial, His faithfulness endures.

Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.
Job 1:21

Life can change in a heartbeat, and Job experienced this firsthand. In a single day, he lost everything—his children, his wealth, and his health. The weight of that grief is unimaginable. Yet, from the depths of his suffering, Job speaks these powerful words: “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Job’s response doesn’t dismiss his pain but reflects a raw, honest faith that acknowledges a difficult truth: nothing in this life is permanent. Job reminds us that even our greatest trials pass through the hands of a loving God. His faith was never rooted in his circumstances but in the unchanging character of God.

In our own seasons of joy or sorrow, Job’s faith challenges us. Can we trust God’s goodness when life feels anything but good? There’s a peace in surrendering to God—not for what He gives or takes away, but for who He is beyond our circumstances. And may we find the strength to whisper, even through tears, “Blessed be Your name.”

How did you feel when you experienced your greatest loss?

What is the Holy Spirit showing you about your losses?

For me, in times of loss, the Holy Spirit whispers comfort, guidance, and hope. He reminds us that our losses are not in vain but are opportunities for growth, refinement, and deeper intimacy with God.

Heavenly Father, thank you for being with me through every season of life, especially in the moments that feel overwhelming. When I face losses or struggles that seem too heavy to bear, remind me that You are unshakable and faithful. Help me trust You, not just in the good times, but in the hardest days. Teach my heart to find peace in Your love, even when I don’t understand. Give me the strength to whisper, even through my tears, “Blessed be Your name,” knowing that Your hand will never let me go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I have learned to kiss the wave that throws me against the Rock of Ages.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Uncommon

25 Jan

Uncommon…

As a teenager, Daniel was taken from Judah into Babylonian captivity and put into training to serve the king. They tried to get him to compromise his faith, to fit in and become common, to forget about the God of Israel, and start worshipping their idols.

God gave Daniel the special ability to interpret the meanings of visions and dreams.
Daniel 1:17, NLT

But Daniel refused to take the easy way out and be squeezed into that society’s mold. He chose to remain set apart to God for His service and to be uncommon, no matter what it might cost.

In doing so, God gave him uncommon favor and caused him to stand out above all the rest in the service of the Babylonian king. It doesn’t take much effort to compromise and do what everyone else is doing.

A dead fish can float downstream; it takes a live one to swim upstream. Be a Daniel and choose to be uncommon, to live by a higher standard, to honor God with your life.

Uncommon obedience produces uncommon blessings, uncommon favor, an uncommon destiny. When you honor God, He will always honor you. He’ll take you places you couldn’t go on your own.

Father, thank You that I belong to You and that You set me apart to be uncommon, to be one of Your chosen ones. Thank You that I have the power to be like Daniel and purpose not to let society squeeze me into its mold. I want my life to honor You and to have Your favor shining on me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Fix Your Eyes Upon Him

24 Jan

Fix Your Eyes Upon Him

When life’s troubles loom, remember: God is powerfully at work in what you can’t see. Fix your eyes on His promises—they outlast every storm.

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18

That medical report. The empty chair. The prayer that’s hung in the air for years. It’s easy to fixate on what’s visible—to let the tangible world convince us, “This is all there is.”

But Paul’s words are a lifeline, not a platitude. Faith isn’t ignoring the diagnosis, the grief, or the waiting. It’s staring straight into the storm and whispering, “I see this… but I also see You, God.”

What’s unseen isn’t a vague hope. It’s the quiet, relentless work of a God who never wastes a tear, a prayer, or a moment of faithfulness. Every time you choose love when it’d be easier to give up? He’s saving it. Every night, you keep praying for what seems impossible? He’s counting it. Every choice to trust when all seems dark? He’s weaving it into a story that outshines time.

Your struggles are real, but they’re not permanent. The same God who resurrected dry bones is rewriting your equation. What looks like an unsolvable problem to you is His sacred setup.

Today, lift your eyes higher. — The seen is temporary—but the unseen is eternal.

Dear God, Thank You for seeing the hidden corners of my heart—the silent fears, the flicker of faith that feels so fragile. When the world’s noise buries Your voice, remind me You are still at work: transforming each doubt into a doorway of trust, each ordinary step into sacred ground. I lay down what I can not control—the results, the timelines, the anxieties that rob me of peace. Let Your love eclipse my fears, and ground me in who You are forevermore. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Three Key Words

24 Jan

Three Key Words…

When you first learned to speak, you learned three key words: Please and thank you. We often forget what the simplest first lessen that we learned as children means in our hearts to God.

When we ask God for something, the attitude must be please, not demanding that we have to have something or complaining that we didn’t get something. But God, if you please, if it’s Your will, then I praise You.

Then there is thank you. When you receive something from God, you don’t just walk away and take it for granted, or say, “I had the faith, so God had to do it.”

Thank God for everything every day! Everything you have in your life is a gift, not an entitlement. The more you thank Him, the more gifts and blessings you’ll see in your life.

Remember that one of the first lessons of life and in the Lord is one of the most important spiritual lessons for joy and blessing.

Put it into practice. “I’m not demanding it, I’m just asking you.” Put it into effect today, won’t you please… and thank you.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.  James 4:10

Today, approach the Lord with a heart of humility and thanksgiving. Take no good thing for granted, and give thanks for everything.

Dear Heavenly Father, Help us to cultivate a heart of humility and gratitude as we approach You. May we remember to say “please” with a humble attitude and “thank you” with sincerity and appreciation. May we never take Your blessings for granted, but instead, may we acknowledge Your goodness and provision in our lives. We thank You for the lessons we learned as children and for the reminder that these simple words can bring joy and blessing to our lives. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity… It turns problems into gifts, failures into successes, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Unexpected Blessings

23 Jan

Unexpected Blessings…

Good morning. Today, let’s discover the quiet strength of surrender—and how God transforms it into unexpected blessings.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:10

We all know the ache of striving—the chase for dreams, the balancing of demands, the weight of uncertainty. The world shouts that worth is earned through achievements, polished appearances, or tight control. But God whispers a better truth: True greatness begins when we stop climbing and start kneeling.

Like an ancient oak, humility isn’t about shrinking your story; it’s rooting it in the One who holds all things together. Whether you’re juggling deadlines, caring for loved ones, or facing trials that steal your breath, surrender isn’t defeat—it’s wisdom in motion.

When we unclench our grip on timelines and outcomes, God lifts us into His unshakable purpose. That dream that’s stalled? That relationship that feels stuck? That fear whispering “failure”? Entrust it to His care. What looks like an ending, God calls a seed—planted in fertile soil, waiting to burst into bloom.

Here’s the miracle: Your surrender isn’t loss. It’s the sacred exchange where God transforms your humility into shelter for others, your trials into testimony, and your quiet “yes” into a legacy only He could write. Today, let your heart rest here: The author of eternity is still writing your story, and His best chapters begin when we trust Him with the pen.

Where in your life are you exhausting yourself trying to prove your worth?

What might change if you surrender your need to control things to God’s perfect strength?

Dear Father, Sometimes, I cling to burdens you never asked me to hold—the need to perfect, control, or force outcomes. Forgive me for complicating surrender when You ask only for my heart. I love You—not because You fix everything, but because You are everything. Thank You for being my anchor in chaos, my peace in uncertainty. Teach me to walk humbly, not in my strength, but in the quiet confidence of Your faithfulness. Turn my striving into stillness, my pride into praise. Let my life echo one truth: You are enough. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you aim for only wealth, beauty, fame, & power, you aim too low. Humility, gentleness, gratitude, & service – that’s aiming high.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
