Your Heavenly Calling

16 Jan

Your Heavenly Calling…

In the Book of Hebrews, we’re told that we’re partakers of a heavenly calling. Yet, we often forget that a calling has two parts. In order to get “to” our calling, we must move away “from” something else.

We can’t always see where we’re going to end up in our calling, but we can see what we need to move away from. What is it that your calling is moving you away from? Start right now by moving away from that which is hindering you, and you’ll move towards the goal.

If you’re to become pure, you must move away from impurity in your life. If you’re to become a loving person, you must move away from unlovingness in your life. If you want to become a holy vessel for God, start right now by moving away from that which is unholy.

You are called to glory – that’s the “to” of your call. The glory doesn’t start when you get “to” where you’re going, but when you come away “from” the old life. So, start with the “from” of your calling, and God will take care of the “to.”

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the heavenly calling that’s upon my life. Help me to identify the things that are hindering me from moving forward in my calling. Give me the strength and courage to move away from the old life and press on toward the goal of becoming more like you. I pray that you’ll guide me daily, helping me to walk in purity, love, and holiness. May your glory shine through me as I move away from the things that are ungodly. Thank you for your promise to take care of the “to” of my calling. I trust in your goodness and provision. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Today, move away from anything ungodly that is hindering your calling.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Love – Our Real Strength

15 Jan

Love – Our Real Strength…

Good morning!! Today, let’s delve into the heart of Psalm 18 and discover how love for God becomes our strength.

I love you, Lord, my strength.   Psalm 18:1

When was the last time you said “I love you” to God? Not in a memorized prayer or familiar song, but in that sacred space where your heart speaks its truest words? David – who knew both palace halls and desert caves, who tasted victory and persecution – stripped away every title and triumph to say these simple words.

In Psalm 18, he’s standing in the aftermath of survival. Years of running, fighting, and hiding are behind him. He’s witnessed God’s power shake mountains and part heavens. Yet his first words aren’t about the miracles or the victories. They pour out like a love song: “I love you.” Then, in the same heartbeat, “my strength” – as if he’s finally naming the source of every victory, every moment of courage, every step of perseverance.

Maybe David discovered what we all need to know – that loving God isn’t just devotion. It’s the foundation of all strength. That when love for God becomes our first response, we find a power that circumstances can’t touch. No wonder David didn’t just survive his battles – he turned them into worship.

When do you find it hardest to make loving God your first response?

In what situations do you need to let your love for God be stronger than your fears or doubts?

Dear Father, Sometimes, I make loving You so complicated. Today, I just want to pause and say what my heart longs to speak: I love You. Not for Your miracles, though they amaze me. Not for Your protection, though You’ve kept me safe. But simply because You are You. Thank You for being my strength when I feel weak, my song when words fail. Help me to make loving You my first response in every situation, knowing that in Your love, I find all the strength I need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek Him the greatest adventure; to find Him, the greatest human achievement.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always

Treasures In Heaven

Treasures In Heaven…

A king had twin sons. In order to decide who should inherit the crown, he gave them each the same amount of money. At the end of five years, whoever had the greater amount would have the crown. The first son kept the money – watched it – guarded it – bought expensive possessions, which he kept locked up in his mansion.

The other son gave the money away to investors and lived poorly. At the end of five years, the one who saw his treasures every day gained nothing. But the son who had given his money away got it back with interest.

In the same way, when you give to the Lord and His work, it looks like you’re giving away what you have. But, it’s the opposite. You’re lending. You will get it back with interest.

The only way you can have something forever is to give it to God. So give purely and joyfully with all of your heart. Then you’ll be greatly blessed in this life, and you’ll have treasures in Heaven.

For he who gives to the poor, lends to the Lord. And the Lord shall repay. He is ever lending generously, and his children become a blessing.  Psalm 37:26

Today, freely give your worldly treasures to the Lord, knowing that they will be multiplied in Heaven.

Walk daily with God at your side!

A Measure of Time

14 Jan

A Measure of Time…

“As we grow older, time has a way of moving faster.” These words resonate deeply within us. It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating a new year, and now another one is on the horizon. Our days are getting shorter, and before we know it, our time on this earth will come to an end.

But in the midst of this fleeting nature of life, we find a glimmer of hope. The Bible reminds us that our salvation is not bound by the constraints of time. In 2 Corinthians 6:2, we read, “For he says, ‘In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”

As our days get shorter, let us not lose sight of what truly matters. Let us focus on living each day with intention and purpose, seeking to honor God in all we do. For in the end, it is not the length of our days that matters, but the depth of our relationship with our Savior.

Dear Heavenly Father, help us to make the most of the time you have given us. May we live each day with intention and purpose, seeking to honor you in all we do. Thank you for the gift of salvation, which transcends the boundaries of time. May we rest in the assurance of your love and presence, now and forevermore. Amen.

Life is not measured by time. It is measured by moments, which means that life is made up of moments and that those moments are what define our lives.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Strength In Weakness

14 Jan

Strength In Weakness…

Today, let’s embrace the paradox of strength found in weakness, where God’s power shines brightest in our imperfections.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.   2 Corinthians 12:9

In our world that glorifies strength and success, 2 Corinthians 12:9 offers a revolutionary perspective. Paul’s words challenge our instinct to hide our weaknesses, inviting us instead to see them as gateways to God’s power.

Imagine viewing your struggles not as roadblocks, but as opportunities for divine intervention. It’s counterintuitive, isn’t it? We often strive for perfection, yet here’s Paul, boasting about his weaknesses. Why? Because he’s discovered a profound truth: our limitations create space for God’s limitless grace.

This isn’t about passively accepting defeat. Rather, it’s about reframing our perspective. When we’re at our lowest, we’re most receptive to God’s strength. Our vulnerabilities become channels for His power to flow through us.

Consider the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold, making it more beautiful than before. Similarly, God’s grace doesn’t just patch up our weaknesses—it transforms them into our most compelling testimony.

Today, embrace your imperfections. They’re not flaws to be hidden, but opportunities for God’s power to be displayed. In your weakness, His strength shines brightest.

Dear God, I know I’m not perfect, and I often try to hide my weaknesses and put on a brave face. But Your Word reminds me that it’s okay to not be okay. It’s in my brokenness that Your power shines brightest. Today, I surrender my struggles to You. The things I’m afraid to show others, the insecurities I try to hide—I lay them all at Your feet. Fill those empty spaces with Your grace, Lord. Help me to see my weaknesses not as failure  but as opportunities to experience Your incredible strength. Let my life be a testament to Your transforming power, a living proof that, in my weakness, You are strong. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

If you want God to bless you and use you greatly, you must be willing to walk with a limp the rest of your life because God uses weak people.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The Wolfman

14 Jan

The Wolfman…

Do you remember the Wolfman from Saturday morning television? His face would start to get hairy. Then he got fangs, ears, and nose like an animal.

Some believers are very much like that – saints in church, but then start undergoing a strange transformation as they drive home. The first hair appears as they leave the church parking lot, and by the first traffic light, their face is covered.

By the time they’ve reached home, their family recognizes the growling and snarling and says the Wolfman’s home.

Too many believers lead double lives. If you’re a person of integrity, you have to be the same in the house of the Lord as in your home.

Be a person of integrity, especially with your family and the people who see you all the time. Be the same in service, in your home, or at work. That’s where the victory is. Be just as spiritual at home as you are in the service.

Take the love and joy from the service and bring it home. Then you’ll be a light to your home, which is what God called you to be – and not a monster.

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.  1 John 3:18

Today, be a saint wherever you are and in whatever you do.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

A Quiet Nudge

13 Jan

A Quiet Nudge…

Good morning!!
Today, let’s discover how to find strength and courage in the Lord, knowing He is always with us.

They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you, declares the Lord.
Jeremiah 1:19

Have you ever felt that quiet nudge in your heart—a dream, a calling, or even a small act of obedience—that feels both exciting and terrifying? Maybe it’s starting something new, mending a broken relationship, or simply choosing kindness in a moment when it’s hard. But then doubt creeps in: “Who am I to do this? What if I fail?”

I’ve been there. Maybe you’re there right now.

That’s exactly where Jeremiah was when God called him. A young man handed a mission that felt impossible, surrounded by opposition at every turn. But God didn’t focus on Jeremiah’s fears or limitations. Instead, He gave him a promise: “They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you.”

Here’s the beautiful truth: that promise isn’t just for Jeremiah. It’s for you. For every time your calling feels too big, your fears too loud, or your strength too small. God doesn’t call you because you’re qualified; He calls you because He is. And He doesn’t send you out alone; He goes with you, fighting for you, every step of the way.

So, what’s your “impossible” today? Maybe it’s a step of faith you’ve been avoiding, a conversation you’ve been dreading, or a dream you’ve been too afraid to pursue. Whatever it is, hear God’s whisper: “I am with you.” Let that truth be your courage, your strength, your peace. You’re not alone in this fight.

Father, sometimes, the battles around me feel too big, and I’m tempted to believe I’m on my own. But you remind me I’m never alone—You are always with me, fighting for me. Forgive me for letting fear and doubt take over. Help me trust Your promises, even when the opposition feels overwhelming. Remind me that Your presence is my shield, Your strength is my victory, and Your faithfulness is my anchor. Today, I surrender every challenge, every doubt, every “impossible” to You. Fill me with Your courage, Lord, and remind me that I don’t have to be strong on my own because You are my strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

We can be tired, weary, and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power, and strength.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Confound Your Problem

Confound Your Problem…

Once, when my niece Gabby was three years old, she started yelling and screaming. My father, in an effort to get her to stop, wanted to say, “When you act like that, Gabby, your face is no longer pretty. It becomes ugly.”

But it came out, “You’re ugly.” Before my father could correct himself, Gabby without missing a beat shouted back in a counter-reply, at the top of her lungs, “You’re handsome!” It didn’t fit. And yet, with two words, she completely disabled my father and every other adult in the room.

What Gabby did was biblical. Jesus told us to bless those who curse us. It doesn’t fit or make sense, but that’s what He said. And that applies not just to those who curse us with words but with anyone who’s ever done something to hurt us.

The normal response is to curse them back or respond in like manner. But Jesus says, “Do good to those who hurt you.” Overcome evil with good. It doesn’t fit or make sense. But it will confound the situation, and it will disable your problem. It works. Just ask Gabby.

Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.  Luke 6:28

Today, overcome evil with good; confound the enemy.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.  Romans 12:14

The Antidote to Fear

12 Jan

The Antidote to Fear…

Today, let’s find comfort and courage in God’s perfect love. As you begin your day, remember His love overcomes all fear. Tackle your challenges boldly, knowing you are deeply loved and never alone.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
1 John 4:18

In a world that often feels filled with uncertainty and anxiety, 1 John 4:18 offers us a profound truth: the antidote to fear is love. Not just any love, but the perfect, unconditional love of God.

When we find ourselves gripped by fear – whether it’s fear of the future, fear of failure, or fear of not being enough – we have a choice. We can allow that fear to control us, or we can turn to the One whose love casts out all fear.

God’s love is not a flimsy, fleeting emotion. It’s a steadfast, unshakable reality that has the power to transform our lives from the inside out. When we root ourselves in this love, we find a sense of security and belonging that no earthly circumstance can take away.

This love empowers us to face challenges with courage, to pursue our God-given dreams with confidence, and to love others with the same extravagant grace that we’ve received.

So today, if fear is knocking at the door of your heart, remember the truth of 1 John 4:18. Lean into God’s perfect love, and watch as it drives out every fear, filling you with peace and joy that surpasses all understanding.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your perfect, unconditional love that casts out every shadow of fear. As I face the uncertainties and challenges of today, help me to anchor deeply in Your love that knows no bounds. Give me the strength to overcome fears of inadequacy, failure, or the unknown, and fill my heart with the peace and joy that only You can provide. Empower me to extend this love to others, sharing the grace and confidence I find in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The remarkable thing about fearing God is that when you fear God, you fear nothing else, whereas if you do not fear God, you fear everything else.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Be  Bold

12 Jan

Be Bold…

It takes a boldness of faith to do as Jonah did and ask for God’s favor in spite of your mistakes. Jonah had disobeyed God’s word to go to Nineveh and was at that moment inside the belly of a big fish.

In my distress I called to the LORD, and he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead, I called for help, and you listened to my cry. Jonah 2:1,

Every thought was telling him, “This is what you deserve. God is finished with you.” But instead of feeling guilty and condemned, his attitude was: “God, I was wrong, but I believe You will bring me out of this pit and help me to fulfill my destiny.”

That is exactly what God in His great mercy did for Jonah and sent him a second time to Nineveh. You may have gone the wrong way and done the wrong thing, but God is going to give you another chance and another to fulfill His best plan for your life.

If you start to honor God right where you are, being your best, serving others, the right doors will open, the right people will show up. God knows how to make up for lost time. He can still get you to where you’re supposed to be.

Father, thank You that when I make a mistake and bring trouble upon myself, You cover me with mercy and give me second chances. Help me to remember Your compassion and that I am still Your child when I mess up. I believe You will get me to where I’m supposed to be. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Only engage, and then the mind grows heated. Begin, and then the work will be completed. You and I, the people of God, have permission to come before the throne of Heaven at any time we will, and we are encouraged to come there with great boldness.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always
