Light of The World

31 Jan

Light of The World…

Good morning!

Today, let’s embrace our calling to be the light of the world, shining brightly in all we do.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill can not be hidden.
Matthew 5:14

Jesus didn’t say, “You could be a light” or “You should be a light” — He declared, “You are the light of the world.” It’s not about what we do, but who we are as children of God.

Imagine a single candle in a pitch-black room. It doesn’t take much to push back the darkness, does it? That’s the power of your light, friend. Even when life feels dim, your faith has the power to illuminate the lives of those around you.

Maybe you’re struggling, doubting, or feeling like your light is barely a flicker. But remember, the source of your light isn’t you; it’s Christ within you. He is the one who shines through your kindness, your compassion, your willingness to love, and serve others.

So let your light shine, not because you have to, but because you can’t help it. Be a beacon of hope in a weary world, and don’t be afraid to let your light shine, however dim it may feel. You might just be the light someone needs to find their way home.

In what ways can you shine your light for Jesus today?

What can prevent you from shining for Him?

Dear Heavenly Father, In a world that so often feels lost and broken, I’m grateful for the light of your love that shines within me. Help me to never hide that light, Lord, but to let it radiate through my words and actions, no matter how small. I want to be a beacon of your hope, pointing others to the One who can mend every broken heart and heal every wound. Thank you for the privilege of carrying your light. May it shine brightly today and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Don’t shine so that others can see you. Shine so that through you, others can see Him.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

He Has Already Spoken

31 Jan

He Has Already Spoken…

Throughout the Scriptures, it says, “Thus says the Lord.” We take that to mean the Lord is saying something. But when you read, “Thus says the Lord,” the Hebrew word used is “Amar.”

Amar doesn’t just mean thus “says” the Lord, it means thus “has said” the Lord. There’s a big difference. Amar is the past tense or the perfect tense. It means the Lord has already said – it’s already done – it’s already finished.

It’s not the future or the present tense, it’s the perfect tense. It’s already perfectly established. The Word of God is perfect, it’s finished, and it’s done. When God says something, you can put your complete trust and faith in His Word.

For when you take the Word of God and the promises of God, there’s no question, there’s no if, and there’s no maybe. Amar means it’s settled, sealed, finished, and accomplished.

So stand on the Word. Hold to the Word and believe in it. Be confident in the Word. For the Word- the promise and the assurance of God- is as good as done. Thus says the Lord, the Lord has spoken.

Forever, O Lord, your word is settled in heaven.  Psalm 119:89

Let’s stand on the Word, hold fast to its promises, and be confident in its assurance

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your Word that is settled in heaven. Help me to trust in your promises and stand firm on your truth. Give me confidence in your assurance and may your Word be my guiding light. Amen.

The Word of God is the foundation upon which we stand, the rock upon which we build, and the sword by which we fight.

May God’s Word be our strength and our guide today!

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Fight The Good Fight

Fight The Good Fight…

When our days are filled with both triumphs and trials, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to stay steadfast. Let today’s devotional on 2 Timothy 4:7 encourage you to keep running your race with hope and perseverance—through every high and low.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.   2 Timothy 4:7

In a dim prison cell, shackled yet unshakeable, Paul penned words that would echo through eternity: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” In that declaration, we hear the resounding triumph of a life utterly abandoned to Christ.

Every trial endured, every mile traveled, every soul won—Paul counted them not as losses, but as gains. He had found a love worth giving everything for, a purpose that turned sacrifices into songs of praise.

As he neared the finish line, he wasn’t tallying regrets; he was celebrating a life poured out like an offering. He had discovered the secret: true joy is found in complete surrender to the One who surrendered all for us.

This is our invitation today. In every decision, every trial, every act of faith—we’re stepping into His story. We’re discovering that a life given fully to Christ echoes in eternity.

Fight the good fight. Finish your race. Keep the faith. And one day, may you too say: “It was worth it all, for the sake of knowing Christ.”

What changes might you make now to “finish the race” well?

Father, When this race feels long and my steps grow heavy, remind me what I’m running for. Not for trophies that tarnish or crowns that fade, but for the joy of knowing You more. Thank You for making every step worth taking, every battle worth fighting. Give me courage to pour out my life like Paul did – not because I have to, but because You’re worth it all. And when my race is done, may my life echo with one message: Jesus was enough. In Your precious name, Amen.

By perseverance, the snail reached the ark.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

What’s In Your Closet

30 Jan

What’s In Your Closet…

In Matthew, Jesus speaks about going into your prayer closet. Have you ever thought about how strange it is to talk about praying in a closet? Your closet might have vacuum cleaners, umbrellas, winter coats, and mothballs in it.

The word “closet” actually refers to a storage room. A storage room wasn’t made for prayer. It was made for junk. In order to make it a place of prayer, you have to push other things outside and make space.

It takes work to have a prayer closet. It takes work to take the junk and clutter out of your schedule. There are a lot of things that push their way into our lives, and we have to push them out. If you are going to have time with the Lord every day, it takes work.

Clear your schedule because it’s more important to be with God. Remove the clutter and simplify your life. Then that junk room of time, that cluttered closet of your week, will turn into a tabernacle of prayer. It all begins when you press into the presence of God through the mothballs.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.  Matthew 6:6-7

Today, take the junk and clutter out of your schedule and spend time in your prayer closet.

Dear Heavenly Father, help me create a prayer closet in my heart and schedule. Give me the strength to clear out distractions and clutter, making space for meaningful time with You. May my prayer closet become a sanctuary where I can connect with You, listen to Your voice, and become more like You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Prayer is not a way to get what we want but a way to become what God wants.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Fully Embrace Life

Fully Embrace Life…

Good morning, Today, let’s pray for the courage to surrender like Jesus asks us in Mark 8:35. May we find peace and joy in letting go of our striving and embracing the abundant life He offers.

For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
Mark 8:35

In our self-focused culture, the concept of losing one’s life may seem counterintuitive or even alarming. We’re conditioned to prioritize self-preservation, chasing after our own dreams and desires. But Jesus presents a radical paradigm shift, inviting us to a life of selfless surrender.

When we cling tightly to our own plans and agendas, we may find that life slips through our fingers. But when we release our grip, offering our lives as a living sacrifice to Christ, we discover the true essence of living.

Losing our life for Jesus isn’t about self-denial for the sake of it. It’s about aligning our hearts with His purposes, finding our identity and our joy in Him. It’s about trading temporary pleasures for eternal rewards, knowing that our lives are secure in the hands of the One who gave His life for us.

This path of surrender isn’t always easy, but it leads to a life of profound significance and unshakable peace. It’s in losing our lives that we find them, in the most beautiful and transformative way possible.

Today, let’s embrace the upside-down kingdom that Jesus invites us into. Let’s choose to lose our lives for His sake and for the gospel, confident that in doing so, we will find life abundant and eternal.

Are you living primarily for yourself, or have you surrendered your life and dreams to Christ?

It’s a simple question, but I suspect most of you can’t really answer it. But, until you do, you can’t fully Embrace Life.

Heavenly Father, my heart truly desires to honor You, yet I find myself clinging to my own plans and worries. Help me loosen my grip on control and fully surrender my life – my dreams, my anxieties, my desires – into Your loving hands. Transform my heart and guide me into the beauty of surrender, a life poured out in worship of You. Replace fleeting pleasures with Your unshakeable peace and the eternal joy found only in You. Have Your way in me, Father. All I am is Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Worry and worship can not exist in the same space. One always displaces the other. Choose worship.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Imperfect We Are

29 Jan

Imperfect We Are…

Are you struggling to bless, love, or forgive someone in your life? Do their faults and mistakes seem to overshadow your ability to see their goodness? The problem isn’t your eyesight, but rather your focus.

In Genesis 27, Isaac’s poor eyesight allowed him to bless Jacob, fulfilling prophecy. Similarly, we need to have “poor eyesight” when it comes to seeing the sins of others. Instead of focusing on their flaws, we need to see them through the lens of God’s grace and the blood of Jesus.

As the Bible says, “Love covers a multitude of sins” (1 Peter 4:8). Let’s learn to have God’s grace towards others, just as He has towards us.

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to see others through Your eyes. Give me faith to not focus on their sins but to see the blood of Jesus that covers them. Help me to speak blessings over those around me, even when it’s hard. Fill me with Your love and grace, that I may be a blessing to others. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.” – 1 John 4:7

His Purpose Prevails

His Purpose Prevails…

Good morning!

When our carefully crafted plans shift, God’s unwavering purpose remains. Let this devotional encourage you to trust the One who sees beyond every detour.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Proverbs 19:21

It’s written in birthday wishes and New Year’s resolutions. Whispered in late-night prayers and morning devotions. Sketched in margins and typed in notes: “This is how it should go, Lord. This is what I need.”

We plan because we care deeply. About that child who’s struggling. That relationship is breaking. That decision could change everything. We search for the right steps, the perfect timing, the way to make things work. After all, isn’t that what responsible Christians do?

But there’s freedom hidden in this proverb – not in having no plans but in holding them with open hands. Because the story of Scripture whispers a deeper truth: Joseph didn’t plan for prison to be his path to purpose. Ruth didn’t plan for a loss to lead her to legacy. David didn’t plan for his years of running to shape him into a king.

Your plans aren’t failing when they fall apart. They’re falling into the hands of a Father who sees what you can’t, knows what you don’t, and loves you more than you can imagine.

Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes, I hold my plans so tightly, thinking I know best. But you see every detour and weave beauty into the unexpected. When life shifts or dreams unravel, remind me that You did the same for Joseph, Ruth, and David—leading them to a purpose beyond what they imagined. Help me release my grip and trust your loving hand to shape my future. Assure my heart that no path is wasted when I walked with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes, there is a God who hasn’t surrendered His authority.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The Flowing Life

28 Jan

The Flowing Life…

Are you living a life that flows with joy, peace, and purpose, or are you feeling driven, stressed, and compelled by circumstances? Isaiah 55:12 promises that when you’re led by God’s Spirit, you’ll go out with joy and be led forth with peace.

The Hebrew word “yabal” means to flow like a river, and it’s used to describe the leading of God’s Spirit. When you’re living in harmony with God’s Spirit, your life will flow with love, faith, mercy, kindness, joy, and peace.

On the other hand, a life driven by fear, anger, jealousy, and depression is stagnant and lacking in flow. It’s only when you’re led by God that you’ll experience the smooth, effortless flow of His Spirit.

See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the wilderness I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers. Isaiah 43:19

Today, choose to follow the leading of the Lord. Allow His peace to guide you, and flow forth in His Spirit.

Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to surrender to Your leading and allow Your Spirit to flow through me. I want to experience the joy, peace, and purpose that comes from being led by You. Forgive me for trying to control my life and circumstances. I trust that Your ways are higher than mine, and I surrender to Your leading. Fill me with Your Spirit, and let my life flow with love, kindness, mercy, and joy. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

I Can

27 Jan

I Can…

Have you ever felt like your faith is insignificant or inadequate? Perhaps you’ve prayed for something, hoping for a miracle, but wondered if your faith is enough to make a difference.

Then he touched their eyes and said, ‘Because of your faith, it will happen.’
Matthew 9:29

Jesus’ words in Matthew 9:29 offer us a profound encouragement: “Because of your faith, it will happen.” Reflect on the story of two blind men who dared to trust Jesus, despite their uncertain circumstances. They didn’t have perfect faith or flawless lives, but they brought their small amount of trust to Jesus, and He transformed their lives.

This verse invites us to examine our own hearts. Have past disappointments diminished our expectations of God’s power? Have we settled for a comfortable, superficial faith instead of one that radically transforms?

Today, let’s choose to believe again. Bring your deepest longings, your painful struggles, and your seemingly insurmountable challenges to Jesus. Your faith, no matter how small, is precious to God and has the power to unlock His miraculous love in your life.

Remember, Jesus isn’t seeking perfection; He’s looking for trust.

What situation in your life requires a boost of faith today?
How can you trust God more, even when the outcome is uncertain?

Dear God, Thank You for loving me despite my frail faith. When I’m overwhelmed and uncertain, remind me that it’s not about having all the answers or being perfect – it’s about trusting You with every fragment of faith I possess. Today, help me bring my worries, hopes, and dreams to You. Grant me the courage to trust that You’re working, even when I can’t see it. Let my heart rest in the assurance that You’re with me and that every step of faith I take has significance to You. Thank You for loving me, even in my doubts. I’m grateful You’re always here. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Faith is the courage to take the next step, even when the path ahead is uncertain.

The Sacred Fringe

27 Jan

The Sacred Fringe…

Malachi 4:2 says, “…the Son of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings.” That Hebrew word, in this text, for wings is Kanaph. Kanaph is also the name of a sacred fringe called tzitzit that is on the tallit or prayer shawl of Jewish men.

Jesus wore them on the corners of His garments in obedience to the Scripture. The woman with the issue of blood was speaking about the Kanaph or the Tzitzit when she said, “If I can just touch His garment, I will be healed.”

When Malachi says the Son of Righteousness (which is Jesus) will rise with healing in His wings, the healing is to come in the fringe of His garment! You can be healed! Jesus’s Kanaph can be touched.

If you want to be healed, don’t focus so much on the healing, but on Jesus. Grab hold of His sacred fringe. For blessings come not when you focus on blessings but when you focus on Him and grab hold. For the Son of Righteousness will arise with healing in the fringe of His garment.

Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace and be healed of your disease.  Mark 5:34

Today, grab hold of Jesus, come under His wings, and receive His healing.

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You in faith, seeking healing and restoration. I grab hold of Jesus’ sacred fringe, trusting in His power and love. May Your healing touch be upon me, and may I experience Your peace and wholeness. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen.

Healing may not always mean cure, but it always means being made whole.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
