Removing The Cover

12 Dec

Removing The Cover…

In Ruth 3:3, Naomi tells Ruth to wash, anoint herself with oil, and then go down to Boaz. This is the fateful night when Boaz turns his eyes to her. Boaz is called her goel: the kinsman redeemer. Jesus is our Goel.

In the same way, we want Jesus’s eyes to turn to us. Reyach is a Hebrew word for perfume. It comes from the Hebrew word ruach, which means spirit. So, how do we turn Jesus’s eyes to us?

We cleanse ourselves and adorn ourselves with the fragrant oil of the Ruach – the Holy Spirit. In Hebrew ruach and reyach, spirit and perfume are virtually identical. Thus, the way to make yourself beautiful and live a life of sweetness is to live in the Spirit of God.

It is only the Spirit of God that can make a life truly sweet and beautiful. So take some beauty tips from Ruth today: bathe – cleanse yourself in God’s grace; put on the Reyach – apply the Spirit to your life liberally.

Then go right into the presence of your Beloved; your Kinsman Redeemer and your life will be filled with His sweetness.

While the king was at his table, my perfume spread its fragrance. The king is lying on his couch, enchanted by the fragrance of my perfume. Song of Solomon 1:12

Just as the fragrance of perfume fills the air, let’s allow the fragrance of God’s Spirit to fill our lives. May we apply the Spirit liberally to our lives, just as Ruth adorned herself with fragrant oil, and may our lives be filled with the sweetness of our Beloved.

Walk daily with God at your side!

In Abundance

In Abundance…

Today, let’s dive deep into the boundless ocean of God’s mercy, peace, and love and discover the abundance He has for you.

Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.  Jude 1:2

Three gifts from our Father’s heart: mercy, peace, and love—in abundance. When Jude penned these words, he wasn’t just writing a greeting. He was unveiling the heartbeat of God Himself.

Why these three? Because they touch the deepest places in us. The place that needs mercy when we’ve fallen short. The place that longs for peace when life feels overwhelming. The place that hungers for love that won’t disappear when we’re less than perfect.

And look how God responds to these needs. Not with a careful measure, checking to see if we deserve more. Not with a temporary fix until we stumble again. But with abundance—endless waves of mercy that go deeper than our regrets, peace that reaches further than our fears, love that fills places we didn’t even know were empty.

This is our Father’s heart—delighting in giving until our cups overflow, watching with joy as we discover just how generous He is. Today, let this truth settle deep: you’re blessed with abundance, not because you earned it, but simply because you’re His.

Dear Father, my heart is overwhelmed by Your incredible gifts—mercy that meets me in my failures, peace that calms my storms, and love that never lets me go. Thank You for not holding back, for pouring them out in abundance. I admit I sometimes forget just how generous You are. Forgive me for trying to earn what You’ve already given so freely. Today, I open my hands and heart to You. Fill me until I overflow, not just for my sake, but so that Your goodness spills out to everyone around me. I need You, Father. Thank You for loving me like this. In Jesus’ name, Amen

God’s mercy is so great that you may sooner drain the sea of its water, or deprive the sun of its light, or make space too narrow, then diminish the great mercy of God.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The Promised Land

11 Dec

The Promised Land…

Once, while on a tour to Israel, on a boat on the Sea of Galilee, the leader had everybody write something they needed to get out of their life on a piece of paper. He then put the pieces in a bag and, with much solemnity, threw it into the water, casting all those things into the sea of God’s forgetfulness.

The only problem was that the bag wouldn’t sink. It kept bobbing up and down … a profound lesson. Often, we cast things out of our lives and expect never to deal with them again. Then, when something bobs back up for a moment, we get discouraged and give up.

The fact of life is, usually, the old junk will not often disappear from our lives instantly. Often, it bobs up and down for some time. But don’t let that get you down.

Keep standing in your freedom. Keep pushing that old junk down into the sea of God’s forgetfulness. Eventually, just like that bag on the Sea of Galilee, it will stop bobbing and disappear completely from your life.

Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

Today, push that old habit or sin down into the sea of forgetfulness and stand firm in your freedom.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Our Shield

10 Dec

Our Shield…

Good morning! As we start our day today, let’s draw strength from Ephesians 6:16 as we face life’s challenges.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
Ephesians 6:16

Isn’t it amazing how God equips us for every battle we face? Even from a prison cell, Paul reveals one of heaven’s most powerful gifts – a shield that nothing can penetrate. Not because it’s made of our own strength, but because it’s powered by God’s unfailing love.

When those fiery arrows fly – and we all know how they burn – God doesn’t just hand us a shield and wish us luck. He gives us something that completely extinguishes every attack. Every “What if?” meets “I AM.” Every “Are you sure?” meets.”Fear not.” Every whisper of doubt meets the roar of His promises.

Like those Roman soldiers who soaked their shields before battle, we drenched our faith in the living water of God’s Word, His character, His faithfulness. And suddenly, those arrows that once seemed so threatening lose their power in the face of His truth.

Today, hold your shield high. Not because the battle isn’t real, but because your God is greater. In His hands, every arrow becomes another chance to prove His faithfulness.

Heavenly Father, some days feel like an unending battle, and the fiery arrows of doubt and discouragement hit harder than I can bear. But thank You for not leaving me defenseless. Thank You for the shield of faith that reminds me Your promises are unshakable. Help me to lift it high today, Lord. When fear and lies creep in, let Your truth be louder, reminding me that You are my strength, my defender, and my ever-present hope. I trust that You are working, even in the unseen, and I thank You that in You, the victory is already won. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I know now, Lord, why you utter no answer. You are yourself the answer. Before your face questions die away. What other answer would suffice?

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The Shortest Distance

10 Dec

The Shortest Distance…

A curved line is moving in more than one direction at once. After a while, it will curve back on itself and make some kind of a circle. Making circles is fine when it comes to geometry, but it’s not fine when it comes to your life.

When you waver back and forth between God and the world, you’re moving in two directions at once. You’re going through life double-minded. Thus, the journey of your life becomes curved. And that means you’ll end up eventually curving right back to where you were before – in a circle, going nowhere.

So do you want your life to end up going nowhere, or would you rather have your life go somewhere – and make a difference? Then you have to stop going in two directions. You have to choose to go in only one.

A straight line goes in one direction. Thus, a straight line is the only one that goes somewhere in God. So choose the Lord with all your heart, live all out, 100%, single-minded, no compromise, and on fire for God – that’s when you’ll start going places!

No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.  Luke 9:62

Today, put away all wavering and double mindedness and choose the Lord with all your heart. Live single-minded and on fire for God. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Reflect His Heart

9 Dec

Reflect His Heart…

Today, let’s embrace the beauty of welcoming others in love, knowing that in doing so, we reflect the very heart of Jesus.

And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
Matthew 18:5

Isn’t it beautiful how Jesus shifts our perspective? Imagine the disciples, caught up in their own ambitions, dreaming of power and recognition in His kingdom. But Jesus, with His gentle wisdom, shifts the focus completely. He calls a child—small, unnoticed—to stand among them.

In their culture, children had no influence or status. Yet Jesus says, “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.” He wasn’t just talking about children; He was inviting us to see the overlooked, the vulnerable, the ones who can’t repay us, as reflections of Him. True greatness, He shows, isn’t about being first or seen—it’s about humility, love, and lifting others up.

Think about that. Every time we take the time to truly see someone the world has forgotten, every time we value someone who has nothing to give back, we’re not just being kind—we’re encountering Jesus. It’s as though He’s saying, “If you want to find Me, look where others don’t.”

Today, let’s redefine greatness through His eyes. It’s not about climbing higher but stooping lower to lift others up. And in those simple acts of love and welcome, we might just catch a glimpse of heaven, right here on earth.

Loving Father, Open my heart, not just my eyes, to see those You bring into my life today. When I’m caught up in my own ambitions, jolt me awake to remember that true greatness, in Your kingdom, is found in bending low to serve. Thank You for the incredible privilege of welcoming You as I welcome others. Help me to love like You, to value what You value, and to make room in my heart for the “little ones” the world might overlook. Let every act of welcome, every gesture of kindness, become a reflection of Your boundless heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The King of love my shepherd is, Whose goodness faileth never; I nothing lack if I am his, and he is mine forever.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

One Sigh

9 Dec

One Sigh…

How far away is heaven? We often measure distance by time. We’ll say, “The supermarket is 10 minutes away,” “The next city is 30 minutes,” “Your vacation is a 10-hour flight,” “That galaxy is millions of light-years away.”

So, how long does it take to get to heaven? If you’re born again, it takes just one breath, your last. So the distance between heaven and you is one sigh.

Therefore, heaven is closer than the nearest galaxy, continent, city, or local supermarket; it is closer than the house next door or the room down your hall.

Heaven is closer to you than anything on earth – just one sigh. So remember whenever you sigh, feel down, lost in this life, lonely or far away from God – that sigh is a reminder of just how close heaven is to you.

It’s also a reminder that you don’t have to die to know the wonders of heaven. Jesus said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is in your midst.” So reach out for the love of heaven. It’s the Lord’s joy to give it to you. All the blessings of heaven are waiting to come into your life… just one sigh away.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.  Matthew 5:3

Live this day as if heaven were one sigh away – and when you sigh, know that heaven is even nearer.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Break Free

Break Free…

Have you noticed that some people in your life don’t want to be happy. They’re always in the pits, and at times, being with them can feel like you’re in the pits. They expect you to cheer them up, fix their problems, and carry their loads.

You have to have the attitude: “You may not want to be happy, but you’re not going to keep me from being joyful. If you want to stay in the pits, that’s your choice, but I’m not getting in the pits with you.” You need to evaluate the people you’re spending time with and take responsibility for your own happiness.

Don’t let their issues sour your life. You’re not responsible for their happiness. Be kind. Be compassionate. But run your own race. Pray for them, be respectful, but don’t become codependent. Don’t let their problems become your problems.

Take extra doses of praise, encouragement, and inspiration. Stay prayed up and filled up. Set some boundaries. Don’t let them keep you from your destiny. It’s time to break free and live the abundant life God has for you.

Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crops fails…yet will I rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
Habakkuk 3:17–18

Father, thank You that You have called me to love and help others, but not to try to fix them or make them happy. Thank You that no matter what my circumstances look like, I can rejoice in You, knowing that You are the God of my salvation. I declare that I will remain free and joyful. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

We have peace with God by the righteousness of Christ and peace of conscience by the fruits of righteousness in ourselves.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Impossible – No Such Thing

8 Dec

Impossible – No Such Thing…

Good morning everyone!!! Today, let’s step into the realm of miracles, remembering that the word “impossible” simply doesn’t exist in God’s vocabulary.

For no word from God will ever fail.  Luke 1:37

“Impossible.” The word alone can stop us in our tracks, can’t it? Like a door slamming shut on our last bit of hope. But in God’s hands, impossible isn’t the end of the story—it’s His invitation to do what only He can do.

Mary must have felt it too, that day in Nazareth when an angel stepped into her ordinary world with extraordinary news: she would carry God’s Son. A virgin birth? Everything in her reality said impossible. Yet God wasn’t asking her to figure out how—He was inviting her to trust in Who.

That’s what makes this promise so powerful: “No word from God will ever fail.” When He speaks, His words carry the very power to fulfill them. The same God who hung stars in space and breathed life from dust looks at your impossible and sees the perfect setting for a miracle.

Today, what seems out of reach? Bring it to the God who delights in doing the impossible. Because with Him, your ending might just be where His miracle begins.

Where in your life do you need to lean more on the assurance of God’s unfailing word? How can you align your actions and decisions with the truth that with God, nothing is impossible?

Dear Lord, I come to You with everything on my heart—the hopes I’m holding onto, the fears I can’t seem to shake, the moments that feel too heavy to carry. Thank You for being a God who never turns away, who meets me in the middle of my doubts, and reminds me that nothing is impossible for You. Help me to trust You fully, even when the path feels uncertain. Hold my heart when I feel weary, and remind me that Your love is always enough. I love You, Lord, and I surrender it all into Your hands, believing that You are already at work in ways I can’t yet see. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

To trust God in the light is nothing, but trust him in the dark—that is faith.

Using A Little Wisdom

7 Dec

Using A Little Wisdom…

Good morning! Today, let’s discover how God’s wisdom transforms our most powerful emotions.

A fool expresses all his emotions, but a wise person controls them.
Proverbs 29:11

Emotions are a beautiful gift from God—raw, real, and powerful. But like any gift, they need wisdom to guide them. We’ve all had those moments: a sharp word spoken in frustration, a reaction driven by hurt, or a response we wish we could take back. Proverbs 29:11 reminds us that it’s not about suppressing our emotions but learning to steward them well.

Think of emotions like a fire. When tended wisely, they provide warmth, light, and connection. But left unchecked, they can burn and destroy. God isn’t asking us to snuff out the fire of our feelings; He’s inviting us to bring them to Him first. In His hands, anger can become understanding, and hurt can be transformed into healing. Every pause to pray opens the door for His grace to work in us.

Today, let’s lean into God’s love and wisdom. True strength isn’t in hiding what we feel but in letting His Spirit shape how we respond.

Loving Father, thank You for the gift of emotions that help me navigate life. Some days, they feel overwhelming—a fire within me that’s hard to control. But I’m so grateful I can bring them all to You—my frustrations, my hurts, and my joys. When I’m tempted to react too quickly, remind me to pause and seek Your wisdom. Guide my words with Your truth, shape my responses with Your grace, and let every emotion reflect Your perfect love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
