Cultivating Contentment
Today’s Scripture reminds us that contentment is a learned trait. Philippians 4:11-12 says, “I have learned to be content in whatever state I am.” The apostle Paul didn’t naturally feel content; he had to train his mind to focus on the positive.
We, too, must make a conscious decision to choose happiness and contentment daily. It’s not something that happens by chance; it’s a mindset we must cultivate. By focusing on gratitude and the good things in our lives, we can avoid growing sour and unhappy.
Perhaps you need to shift your focus. Instead of magnifying your problems, magnify your God. Step out of doubt and into faith. Choose joy over discouragement. Make a deliberate decision to live a happy life.
But he said to me, βMy grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.β Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
Father, thank You for teaching me to be content in all circumstances. I’m grateful for Your presence in my life, and I rejoice in the day You’ve given me. Help me focus on the good and cultivate a heart of gratitude. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Walk daily with God at your side!
Love always,
