Titanics and Lifeboats

21 Nov

Titanics and Lifeboats…

The Titanic was called the unsinkable ship. It was almost a world unto itself- luxurious, ornate, elegant, and majestic. The idea of it sinking was so unthinkable that they didn’t even provide enough lifeboats for the passengers. And then the unthinkable happened.

In the same way, this life is like the Titanic. We can get so captivated by its glitter that we don’t consider its end. No matter who you are, everything about the flesh is just a sinking ship. If you have any doubt about it, just attend a funeral.

Therefore, if you know you’re on a sinking ship, what do you do? You get your eyes off the ship and off of its details. You get your life into the lifeboat. The scripture says that the way of the flesh is death, but the way of the Spirit is life.

Salvation is the lifeboat of this life. And you dwell in it by living it in the Spirit. The flesh is sinking, so abandon the sinking ship and get aboard the Spirit. Live by the Spirit of God, and when the ship goes down, you’ll still be floating.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.  Romans 8:12-13

Today, evaluate your life. Abandon – any area in which you are living in or relying on the flesh… Leave the flesh… Walk in the Spirit.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Where Do You Turn?

20 Nov

Where Do You Turn…

Good morning. Today, let’s lift our eyes to the One who never sleeps. I know where my help comes from, but today, I ask you where your help comes from?

I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
Psalm 121:1-2

As I present two of my favorite verses and reflect on just how He brought me through so many challenges, let’s take a close look at our lives. Life often presents us with mountains that seem insurmountable. In those moments, it’s natural to look around frantically for help. But the psalmist offers us a different perspective – look up instead.

These verses aren’t just poetic; they’re a powerful reminder of where our true help lies. When we lift our eyes to God, we’re acknowledging His immense power and love. He’s not just any helper; He’s the Creator of everything we see and beyond.

Consider this: the same God who formed mountains and stars cares deeply about your struggles. Whether you’re facing health issues, relationship troubles, or feeling lost, your help comes from the Lord. He’s not distant or uninterested. He’s right there, ready to assist, guide, and comfort.

Today, whatever challenge you’re facing, remember to look up first. Your help isn’t just coming; it’s already here, in the form of a loving Father who moves heaven and earth for you.

What “mountains” am I facing that I need to entrust to God?

How can I practically remind myself to look to God first in challenging situations?

When I look at these questions, I know exactly where my help comes from and just how much love He has blessed me with throughout my life.

Dear Lord, I know I’m not alone in feeling overwhelmed by the mountains in my life. Sometimes, it feels like they’re towering over me, threatening to crush me. But today, I choose to look up to remember that you’re the one who holds the whole world in Your hands. You are bigger than my problems, stronger than my fears, and more loving than I can ever imagine. Thank you for being my refuge, my fortress, my ever-present help. Please fill me with your peace and give me the courage to face whatever comes my way, knowing that my help comes from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The reason why many fail in battle is because they wait until the hour of battle. The reason why others succeed is because they have gained their victory on their knees long before the battle came. Anticipate your battles; fight them on your knees before temptation comes, and you will always have victory.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The Pleasure Principle

20 Nov

The Pleasure Principle…

Four salesmen perpetrated a hoax on a farmer in Brazil. They tricked him into investing his life savings into a machine that would ‘print money.’ They loaded it with real cruzeiro notes, worth about $20 each. When they demonstrated the machine, the farmer was astounded.

He handed over the equivalent of $45,000 for it. After the salesmen left, the machine wouldn’t print out anything anymore. Outraged the farmer brought the machine to the police and pleaded with them to make it work!

The truth is, you can’t buy a money-making machine. If you want to make money, you have to work for it. So it is with things which are worth far more than money; a great marriage, a good prayer life, a life of integrity, joy, peace, and fullness.

All these things take work. You can’t just demand a good life or a happy marriage. All these things must be cultivated. All of them require godly habits, godly attitudes, and godly actions.

Follow the way of righteousness day in and day out. You’ll end up with more treasures and riches than you ever could’ve printed with a money-making machine.

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather, train yourself for godliness.  1 Timothy 4:7

Today, practice cultivating the foundations of blessings, actions of integrity, self-control, righteousness, prayer, purity, and love.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Greatest Love Story

19 Nov

Greatest Love Story…

Good morning! Today, let’s pause to remember the greatest love story ever told – how far God went to reach us.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

There are moments when even the most familiar words unveil their treasures anew. John 3:16 isn’t just a verse we memorize; it’s the greatest love story ever told. Its beauty lies not in flowery language but in the raw, sacrificial truth of a Father’s heart.

The God who shaped galaxies and spoke stars into existence poured out a love so vast it encompasses every soul, yet so intimate it reaches every heart. In a world that constantly demands we prove our worth, here stands a love so radical it gave heaven’s most precious gift before we took our first breath.

When we read, “God so loved,” that tiny word “so” carries the weight of eternity: the depth of grace, the height of sacrifice, and the breadth of forever. God didn’t just love; He loved like this—to the point of giving His only Son.

When we grasp this truth, everything changes. The One who holds the universe in His hands holds you even closer. The Father gave His only Son not just to save you but to bring you close to His heart—forever. That’s how treasured you are. That’s how wanted. That’s how loved.

Dear Heavenly Father, Your love is the greatest truth I will ever know. It’s a love that sacrificed everything, a love that reaches into the darkest corners of my soul and floods them with light. Help me to walk in this love today. Let it be the beat of my heart, the melody of my words, and the rhythm of my actions. May I love others not by my own strength but by the power of Your boundless grace. Draw me closer to You with each passing moment. Let Your love be the air I breathe, the ground beneath my feet, and the horizon I walk towards. For in Your love, I find my true home, my deepest purpose, and my eternal joy. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung and bled and died, it was God saying to the world, ‘I love you.’

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The Stranger

19 Nov

The Stranger…

A missionary cleverly trying to teach natives in Africa about the locomotive train by using planks of wood to represent the tracks, lined up carts one in front of the other, and oxen at the front with a steam kettle around one’s neck to represent the engine.

Yet, if one of the natives had looked at this and rejected the idea of the train as ridiculous, maintaining that nothing of the kind existed, he would have been right.

So it is with all our theologies, ideas, and imaginings of God. All our words and thoughts fall far short of the real thing. God is far more. He’s greater and better than anything we’ve ever preached, sung, thought of, or dreamed about Him. God is more.

So there is so much more of God that we have yet to discover, learn, and know. That’s why the Scriptures tell us to seek the Lord continually. Never stop seeking Him. Get beyond the words, the doctrines, and the thoughts.

Come into the Holy of Holies where the real presence of God is. For everything else is just wooden planks and steam kettles.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.  Isaiah 55:9

Today, block out some real good time to just meditate on the awesomeness and majesty of God.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

In Heavens Eyes

18 Nov

In Heavens Eyes…

Good morning,

Today, let’s reflect on what truly matters in Heaven’s eyes and where our lasting security lies.

Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.
Proverbs 11:4

When life is going well, it’s easy to think our wealth and resources make us secure. Our world constantly tells us that having enough money can protect us from anything. But Proverbs 11:4 pierces through this illusion with a sobering truth: there comes a day when our bank accounts mean nothing.

God isn’t against prosperity, but He knows something we often forget: righteousness holds power that money never could. When we stand before Him, He won’t ask about our investment portfolio or retirement savings. He’ll look at how we lived – our integrity, our faithfulness, our love for Him and others.

Living rightly—walking in God’s ways, pursuing His heart, choosing His truth—this is what truly saves. It’s an investment that pays eternal dividends, a wealth that carries weight in Heaven’s economy.

Today, let’s build our lives on what lasts forever.

Dear Father, Today, I just wanted to thank You for reminding me that true security isn’t found in what I have, but in who I am because of You. In a world that measures worth by wealth, help me measure it by faithfulness instead. Guide my choices today – when integrity costs something, when righteousness isn’t profitable, when Your way isn’t the easy way. Thank You that living for You brings rewards that never fade. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God’s hands, that I still possess.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

Duped By A Stuffed Bear

18 Nov

Duped By A Stuffed Bear…

When I was growing up, the fair would come to town every year. They had games that were rigged to make it nearly impossible to win the prize. They had basketball with a hoop so small that it was almost impossible to get the ball into it.

But hoping to win a stuffed bear for my mother, I made an attempt after an attempt to win the prize – each time shelling out more money. People tried to stop me, but I would not be stopped. I finally won, and it only cost me $34.00… for a stuffed bear that cost about .50¢ to produce!

So, too, there are a lot of pursuits in life that are not worth winning. You might be striving for success, money, position, or possessions but losing everything that’s truly valuable in the process.

Don’t strive to win a worldly victory that will end up making you lose your family, your marriage, your peace, your intimacy, and life with God. Give up that empty pursuit, and find your peace with God… or you could end up paying $34.00 to win a stuffed animal that’s only worth .50¢.

Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.  Psalm 34:14

Today, put aside any pursuit that is not of God and is fruitless. Pursue Him.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

In Gods Hands

17 Nov

In Gods Hands…

Good morning! I wish you all a very blessed day!

Let’s start this day with the assurance that our plans, hopes, and dreams are tenderly held in God’s wise hands.

In their hearts, humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
Proverbs 16:9

In our human nature, we crave control. We devise plans, set goals, and plot our course, seeking to shape our future with our hands. But Proverbs 16:9 offers a gentle reminder that while we have the freedom to make plans, it’s God who directs our steps.

This verse isn’t about abandoning our dreams or goals; rather, it’s a call to align our intentions with God’s will. It’s about recognizing that our knowledge is limited, our view is partial, but God sees the bigger picture. He knows the best path for us and leads us there, often in ways we didn’t foresee.

As you go about your day, allow this verse to sink into your heart. Make your plans, set your goals, but do so with a spirit of surrender, inviting God into your planning. Trust in His guidance, for He sees the whole journey and promises to lead you where you need to be.

How can you more actively seek God’s guidance in your planning?

Are there areas in life where we need to trust God more with the outcomes?

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. We all recognise this verse as Hebrews 11:1, and I bring it out here because when I look at some of the comments and some that aren’t there when they should be, I see we all are showing a sign of lack of faith. As most of you know, I have my Masters degree in psychology and tend to read between the lines with people.  So my hope is today to remind everyone that our steps are guided by God through our faith and His Grace.

Dear Heavenly Father, as I map out my day, I pause to submit my plans to You, acknowledging that while my perspective is narrow, Yours is boundless. Guide my thoughts and actions, ensuring they align with Your divine will. When my desires stray from Your path, gently steer me back, granting me the humility to accept Your better way. I place my trust in Your wisdom and love, confident that You are guiding me towards a future filled with hope and purpose. May my heart remain open to Your leading, every step of today and beyond. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.

Trust the past to God’s mercy, the present to God’s love, and the future to God’s providence.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

The City On The Hill

17 Nov

The City On The Hill…

America’s profound foundation is rooted in Jesus’ transformative words: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill can not be hidden.” Initially spoken to His devoted disciples, this visionary declaration has uniquely shaped the very essence of American civilization.

Born directly from the Great Commission, America’s divine purpose was to illuminate the world with God’s radiant light, spreading hope, love, and redemption to every corner of the globe. But the mainstream of American culture and society has forgotten its calling and reason for existence.

All the more, you, as a follower of Jesus, must live as an on fire, all-out disciple, a city on a hill, and the light of the world. In an age of darkness, compromise, and great apostasy live your life all the more above reproach; as a light, a witness, and as a city on a hill.

Live an Uncompromising Faith:

– Blaze as an all-out, on-fire disciple, fueled by unwavering passion.
– Shine brightly as a beacon of light amidst encroaching darkness.
– Stand firmly as a courageous witness, proclaiming truth without apology.
– Embody the City on a Hill, radiating hope in a world desperate for guidance.

In this era of spiritual apathy and compromise, rise above the status quo, living an exemplary life that honors God and inspires others to follow.

You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill can not be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.  Matthew 5:14-16

Today, shine the light of Jesus brightly. Light the way for others to come out of the dark.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼

A Heart Open To Love

16 Nov

A Heart Open To Love…

Good morning! Let’s start this day with a heart open to the love God calls us to share.

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:8

Imagine waking up each morning with only one debt on your mind – the debt of love. Paul’s words in Romans 13:8 invite us to see love not as a fleeting emotion but as a beautiful, lifelong obligation.

In a world fixated on settling accounts, we’re called to a radical way of living: to be in constant, joyful arrears of love. This isn’t about grand gestures but daily deposits of kindness. A patient word to a frustrated spouse, a helping hand to a struggling neighbor, forgiveness offered to someone who’s hurt us – each act is a payment on this sacred debt.

Here’s the paradox: the more we pay, the richer we become. Every loving action enriches our relationships, deepens our character, and reflects God’s heart to a world in desperate need of it.

This debt knows no limits. It extends to family, friends, strangers, and even those who oppose us. In faithfully paying it, we fulfill the very essence of God’s law.

Today, embrace your identity as a love debtor. How can you make a payment right now? In doing so, you might just start a revolution of grace in your corner of the world.

Loving Father, thank you for the precious command to love others as You have loved me. As I begin this day, open my heart to see every interaction as a chance to reflect Your grace. Give me eyes to notice the needs around me and the compassion to respond with kindness. When I’m tempted to withhold love, remind me of the debt I owe—a debt paid in full by Your Son, Jesus. May my words and actions be an outpouring of Your love, bringing hope and healing to all I meet. Help me to love without reserve, knowing that in loving others, I am fulfilling Your greatest command. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
