None For The Lazy

None For The Lazy…

We live in a culture of lazy convenience. In days past you had to hunt for chicken. Now you just drive up to a window and the chicken comes in a paper bag with fries and a Coke.

Too much trouble to turn on the television? Use the remote control. Too much trouble to turn off the lights? Clap your hands! But godly people should be adverse to laziness — not lazy in prayer, in quiet time or in righteousness.

Proverbs 15 says “The way of the lazy is as a hedge of thorns, but the way of the upright (or the righteous) is a highway.” What does that mean? It means that the lazy are not righteous and the righteous are not lazy.

The righteous are zealous for God. They are active, diligent, and blessed. The lazy are not. Are you experiencing the blessings God promised in His word?

Are you setting your heart to become diligent in prayer, in ministry, in the Word, in love and in all things? If so, you will be blessed. For the blessings of the Lord are for the diligent, not the lazy.

Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:4-8

Spend your time in the Lord’s presence today, by prayers, meditating on His word and rejoicing in songs of praise.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed
