Gospel of The Honeybee

8 Jan

Gospel of The Honeybee…

You might not expect bees to be able to teach you a Gospel truth. However, there is something they do that is Christian – they dance little bee dances.

By dancing, the bee communicates to its winged friends that the bee has come across a treasure of food. It goes back to the hive and performs its dance. Through the dance, the bee gives specific directions as to its location with regard to the position of the sun. The other bees then fly out and enjoy a feast.

If you find something great and beautiful and sweet and life-giving, you must rejoice in it. We know it’s holy to dance for joy and especially when you have found something much sweeter and better than nectar or honey, that is eternal life.

If the bee knows to rejoice and to share it, and to direct its brethren, how much more must you rejoice in the Gospel of salvation, and not keep it to yourself, but share it with those around you? Be at least as joyful as a bee, for the love of God is sweeter than honey.

Do good to your servant according to your word, Lord. Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. Psalm 119: 65-72

Let your light shine at work and in your going out, share the Good News of salvation, share your joy with those you meet.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed
