If…

How many times have we said I could do this or that if… ? Life is a struggle at times and other times it seems to flow like a river.

If I could hold your heart, I would place it safe and secure in my heart. This is the ultimate declaration of love. If you heard this what would you say?

Actually we hear it almost everyday because it is what God is telling us. He is open to protect and comfort you if you will accept His call. Are you sharing that same message openly with others?

Your light and the way you live your life is a great witness to your Christian values. If we, as believers and Christians, only act like Christian believers on Sunday in church and Sunday School what does that tell nonbelievers about us and better yet about God?

I’ve listened to people sarcastically brush off and joke about it not realizing the people they are talking to just may be looking for a path to Jesus and don’t know how to ask. What if your sarcasm turned that person away?
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29

As Christians we should set an example of Jesus in our everyday lives. It should be our goal, as we grow in our faith, to become more like Jesus. Our lights should light the path for all to see His glory in us. Be the Bible for all to see.

The Glory In The Dungeon

The Glory In The Dungeon…

If you went to the castle of Herod Antipas at the beginning of the fourth decade of the first century, you would find the king living in luxury while a man in nothing but a garment of camel’s hair languished down below in the dungeon.

It would seem clear who the successful one in life was and who the failure was. The man in the dungeon was, of course, Yochanan, John the Baptist. His life would soon be over. And yet 2000 years later, no one thinks of the name “Herod” as something good.

Yet this particular Herod is remembered for being a corrupt, compromised, immoral, evil man. But Yochanan would become among the most honored and revered people who ever lived. He would bring Jesus and salvation to Israel and to millions of lives.

So don’t ever judge your life, or whether you’re a winner or a loser, by the way it looks, or by your circumstance. Only follow the will of God, and do whatever you have to do to fulfill His call on your life. And no matter what – you will be a winner.

A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of birth. Ecclesiastes 7:1

Today, look at your life, not by the standards of the world, but by the will and calling of God – And live accordingly.

The Redeemer — Goel

The Redeemer — Goel…

The Hebrew Scriptures reveal the laws of the Goel. If a woman’s husband died leaving her no children, his brother or nearest male relative could redeem her life by marrying her and by giving her children. He would be called the “Goel.”

Throughout the Bible, God is called “the Redeemer” or “your Redeemer.” But the word translated as “Redeemer” in our English Bibles is actually the Hebrew word “Goel.” The Lord is not only the one who redeems you – He is your Goel. And what is the Goel?

The Goel is the one who has compassion on the sorrowful, the barren, the lost, and the one who thinks that their life is over. The Goel loves that one and marries himself to that one. The Goel takes away the shame and the reproach of that life and makes that barren life fruitful, restored, and blessed.

As it is for Israel, so too is it for you. God is your Goel who loves you, who marries Himself to you. He removes your shame and makes your life fruitful. Be blessed today. For the Lord is not only your Redeemer – He’s your Goel!

For your Maker is your husband—
the Lord Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. Isaiah 54:5

Embrace your Goel, give Him your shame and reproach, and let Him make you fruitful.

The Nature Of Sin

The Nature Of Sin…

Here is an old folktale: There was a scorpion that wanted to cross a river but was unable to swim. The scorpion saw a frog and said to him, “Carry me across the river.” “No,” said the frog, “You’re a scorpion, and you’ll sting me.” “But that would be foolish,” replied the scorpion, “If I were to sting you, we’d both drown. So why would I do that?”

So the frog agreed and began carrying the scorpion on his back across the river. Halfway across, the scorpion stung the frog. “Why did you do that?” exclaimed the frog, “Now we’ll both drown!” “I couldn’t help it,” replied the scorpion, “It’s my nature.”

The scorpion is a fitting symbol for sin. You can’t negotiate with sin, reason with it, or change it. Its nature is to destroy. So you can’t allow it even the smallest amount of room.

So how do you deal with sin and the old nature? Only one way – You crucify it. Don’t be as foolish as the frog. For as it is written, that sin “wars against your soul.” Why? That’s just its nature.

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. 2 Peter 1:4

Today, do not attempt to negotiate with any sin or old nature. Instead just crucify it in Messiah.

The Bottle and The Waterfall

The Bottle and The Waterfall…

If you put a bottle under a flowing waterfall, but you don’t remove the cap, nothing’s going to happen. Even though the water’s pouring out, the bottle remains empty and unchanged.

So it is in the Spirit. You are the vessel, and the Spirit is the flowing waterfall. The Spirit is flowing regardless. If you’re not being filled up, then chances are there’s a cap in the way. If your heart is capped, your faith is capped, your mind is capped, or your emotions are capped, then your life is capped.

Do you want to be filled up with the blessings of God – and flowing? Then you have to uncap your vessel and empty it of all those things which shouldn’t be in it. Empty your heart of those things which are taking up the room that the Spirit should be filling.

Remove whatever you have to out of your life so that the fountain of the Spirit can start filling and blessing and transforming your life. Get uncapped!

The backslider in heart will be filled with the fruit of his ways, and a good man will be filled with the fruit of his ways. Proverbs 14:14

Empty your heart of anything that is hindering the flow of God’s blessings and power – let it in!

Uncertainty Of Information

Uncertainty Of Information…

From a classic book of military strategy comes a principle of successful warfare: “Uncertainty of information acts as an impediment to vigorous activity.” In the Battle of Gettysburg, General Robert E. Lee lost communication with his scout. His uncertainty of information led to the biggest disaster of his career.

In the Lord, we have certain information – it’s the Word of God. So how could we ever deal with the problem of “uncertainty of information”? A) The information you get is uncertain or lacking or B) The information is certain and accurate, but you’re uncertain about it.

The Word of God is certain. But if you’re uncertain about it, it’s as bad as having uncertain information. And the uncertainty of information in war will lead to defeat. Who will be victorious in the Lord? Those who are most certain about His Word and their salvation.

So be certain about God, His goodness, the Word, and your salvation. For the one who is most certain will be the most victorious – and that’s for certain.

Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. John 17:17

Trust in the truth of God’s Word, rebuke any uncertainty against it. Act upon it with boldness, sureness, and single-mindedness – and be victorious.

Beyond The Surface

Beyond The Surface…

When I write a post I always insert two messages. The one on the surface which is fairly obvious and also one below the surface designed to get you to look at yourself and see how you are affected by the messages.

The hidden message is designed to take you into a transcendental almost spiritual state of mind to see just how you interact within your world’s spiritual nature. In other words how does the message interface with your life.

I have taught that if we insert ourselves into the Bible and live the lesson I am portraying you will begin to live a fuller, deeper life with God. The problem is we take so much of our life as routine that we fail to see the forest because of the trees.

We lay out our days to fill every open minute with some chore or activity so much that we forget He is there guiding our every move. We just take it for granted He is there and never give it any thought that it is His blessings that brought us here in the first place. Have you taken time to thank Him? More than likely not.

I would love to sit down with each and everyone of you to have a discussion on how your life is affected by them. But I think most only read the posts and don’t take the time to see what is really written on the page.

I spend on an average of two hours on each post, some a bit longer with the hope of opening your eyes to what God has provided us in our life. To some they start your day, to some it is something to read when you get the time. What I would like is for all to take a few extra minutes praying about what the message is asking for guidance to see where it fits in your life. Then, if you can find the time, write me and tell me what you learned.

I learned that life is not just a destination but a journey. While the expedition can be long and arduous, it can be full of beauty and pleasure as well. Let’s all take the time to see the glory we are being blessed with.

The Anointing

The Anointing…

In Zechariah 4, the prophet is shown a vision of olive trees and a menorah – an oil lamp, being continually filled with oil. And then the prophet asks the angel what it all means.

The angel answers, “This is the Word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.”

The Word is a promise that the building of the Second Temple, so filled with problems and obstacles, will be completed. But it will not be completed because of man’s power or might but by the Spirit of God.

God is telling them that even something as concrete as a building project must be done by the Spirit of God. If even a construction project is to be accomplished by the Spirit of God and the anointing, then how much more the things you need to do in your life?

Do all things by the Spirit, even your job, your relationships, your tasks, and of course, your ministry. For it’s not by might, nor by power, but by His Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.

Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Galatians 6:8

Today, make it your aim to accomplish the things you need to do by the Spirit of God.

The Way

The Way…

One of the earliest names for our faith in Jesus, as recorded in the Book of Acts, is “The Way.” This name carries profound ramifications. The lives of most people, and even most believers, tend to be determined by their circumstances. But think about what the word “Way,” means. A way is not a place or a circumstance, but a path that cuts through places and circumstances.

Therefore, your faith is not about your situations. Your faith is about ‘The Way.” When you’re a person identified by “The Way,” you’re no longer a person identified by your circumstances – nor are you bound by your problems. If you’re a person of “The Way,” it is no longer about what’s around you – it’s about where you’re going.

Psalm 23 speaks of mountains and the valleys as the scenery of life but not the point. It’s not about them. It’s about you walking, progressing, and pressing through to the way of life. So don’t look to the right or left – but press on. For your faith is not called “The Situation” – it’s called “The Way.”
Whoever heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. Proverbs 10:17

Live in the power of The Way. Press through every situation and circumstance on your way with Jesus.

The Honeycomb Secret

The Honeycomb Secret…

There have been times when I’m away from my home that I feel like I’m starving. I see junk food and I buy it. Then I’m driving and eating, and I’ll end up eating the entire bag. Now I would nornmally never plan to do such a thing. So why did it happen? It happened because I let myself get too hungry. When you’re hungry, you’ll eat what you otherwise wouldn’t eat – and way too much of it.

This isn’t just true with food, but also in the spiritual realm. If you let yourself get spiritually empty, you’re putting yourself in danger – You can become vulnerable to falling to temptations you would otherwise never fall into.

Therefore, fill yourself up with what is good; with the Lord, His joy, and His blessings. Make it a point to rejoice and delight in these things every day, and you’ll end up with blessings, no regrets, and no spiritual indigestion.

And to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19

Today, fill up your spiritual hunger. Make it your aim to delight yourself in the good things of God. Fill up with His love and joy.
