The Glory In The Dungeon

The Glory In The Dungeon…

If you went to the castle of Herod Antipas at the beginning of the fourth decade of the first century, you would find the king living in luxury while a man in nothing but a garment of camel’s hair languished down below in the dungeon.

It would seem clear who the successful one in life was and who the failure was. The man in the dungeon was, of course, Yochanan, John the Baptist. His life would soon be over. And yet 2000 years later, no one thinks of the name “Herod” as something good.

Yet this particular Herod is remembered for being a corrupt, compromised, immoral, evil man. But Yochanan would become among the most honored and revered people who ever lived. He would bring Jesus and salvation to Israel and to millions of lives.

So don’t ever judge your life, or whether you’re a winner or a loser, by the way it looks, or by your circumstance. Only follow the will of God, and do whatever you have to do to fulfill His call on your life. And no matter what – you will be a winner.

A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death than the day of birth. Ecclesiastes 7:1

Today, look at your life, not by the standards of the world, but by the will and calling of God – And live accordingly.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed
