Year of Doubling and Growth…
The Hebrew word “Shannah,” meaning “year,” carries a powerful concept: “doubling.” Derived from “shnay,” signifying “two” or “the doubling,” it suggests that each year should be a period of increase, a multiplication of good.
As Peter urged, our growth in God’s qualities should be progressive, not stagnant. Simply passing through the year is insufficient; we must actively pursue expansion.
This year, let’s embrace the “Shannah” principle. Let our love, joy, peace, faith, strength, and confidence not only grow but double. The Lord’s promise of abundant life extends to a doubled measure of His blessings.
Instead of your shame, you will have a double portion, and instead of humiliation, they will shout for joy over their portion. Therefore, they will possess a double portion in their land. Everlasting joy will be theirs. Isaiah 61:7
Let’s not merely endure this year but intentionally cultivate growth in the Spirit, in love, and in righteousness.
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the gift of this ‘Shannah,’ this year of doubling. We ask that you empower us to embrace the principle of increase in every area of our lives. Grant us the wisdom and strength to actively cultivate love, joy, peace, faith, and strength. May your abundant life, your doubled blessings, overflow in us. Help us to use each day as an opportunity for spiritual growth and righteous living. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.
Walk daily with God at your side!
Love always,
Ed 🙏🏼
