Reclaiming Heavenly Citizenship

Reclaiming Heavenly Citizenship…

Philippians 3:20 declares, “For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” The Greek term used for “citizenship” (πολίτευμα, politeuma) vividly depicts a colony of people residing in a foreign land, yet living according to the laws and customs of their homeland.

This powerful image highlights a profound truth: as believers, our true home is heaven. Though we walk the earth, we are called to live as citizens of heaven, governed not by the dictates of this world, but by the divine principles of our celestial kingdom.

This means we are no longer bound by the chains of earthly limitations – the laws of sin and death, the weight of guilt, the sting of failure, the frustration of unmet desires, the consuming fires of anger, the shadows of regret, or the paralyzing grip of fear.

We are freed from these earthly shackles, empowered to live in the glorious liberty of the children of God.

The carnal mind is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so. Romans 8:7

Therefore, we are called to transcend the limitations of the carnal mind and embrace the transformative power of heavenly living.
Today, make a conscious decision to break free from the bondage of the flesh and the dominion of sin and death.

Choose to live by the laws of heaven – by love, grace, forgiveness, and peace. Embrace the rights, privileges, and freedoms that are rightfully yours as a citizen of heaven.

Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing to us our true citizenship. We acknowledge that we are sojourners on this earth, and our hearts long for our eternal home with You. Grant us the strength and wisdom to live according to Your laws, to reflect Your glory in our daily lives. Free us from the chains of earthly limitations and empower us to walk in the freedom You have purchased for us through Jesus Christ. Help us to live as true citizens of heaven, radiating Your love and grace to a world in need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The world as we know it now is passing, and the form of this world is passing too. It is only the things we do for Christ that will last.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
