His Purpose Prevails…

Good morning!

When our carefully crafted plans shift, God’s unwavering purpose remains. Let this devotional encourage you to trust the One who sees beyond every detour.

Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Proverbs 19:21

It’s written in birthday wishes and New Year’s resolutions. Whispered in late-night prayers and morning devotions. Sketched in margins and typed in notes: “This is how it should go, Lord. This is what I need.”

We plan because we care deeply. About that child who’s struggling. That relationship is breaking. That decision could change everything. We search for the right steps, the perfect timing, the way to make things work. After all, isn’t that what responsible Christians do?

But there’s freedom hidden in this proverb – not in having no plans but in holding them with open hands. Because the story of Scripture whispers a deeper truth: Joseph didn’t plan for prison to be his path to purpose. Ruth didn’t plan for a loss to lead her to legacy. David didn’t plan for his years of running to shape him into a king.

Your plans aren’t failing when they fall apart. They’re falling into the hands of a Father who sees what you can’t, knows what you don’t, and loves you more than you can imagine.

Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes, I hold my plans so tightly, thinking I know best. But you see every detour and weave beauty into the unexpected. When life shifts or dreams unravel, remind me that You did the same for Joseph, Ruth, and David—leading them to a purpose beyond what they imagined. Help me release my grip and trust your loving hand to shape my future. Assure my heart that no path is wasted when I walked with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes, there is a God who hasn’t surrendered His authority.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
