Make More Room

Make More Room…

Good morning! Today, let’s discover the freedom that comes when we make more room for Jesus in our lives.

He must become greater; I must become less.
John 3:30

It’s hard to choose less in a world that screams “more.” To step back when every instinct cries “forward.” To point to another when the spotlight feels warm on your face. Yet, John the Baptist, at the peak of his ministry, did just that—and found joy in it.

This wasn’t a trivial sacrifice. Imagine your life’s work, your influence, seemingly fading as people turn elsewhere. But John? He was overjoyed. “He must become greater; I must become less” wasn’t reluctant surrender; it was the cry of a heart overflowing with purpose.

John understood a truth we often miss: true freedom isn’t found in chasing the spotlight, but in reflecting His light. It’s a daily surrender—laying down our need for control, our hunger for recognition, our own plans—to embrace His infinitely better one.

When we decrease, we make room for Jesus to increase. And in that beautiful exchange, we discover who we were truly meant to be: windows, reflecting His glory, His love, His grace to a world desperate for the true light.

What do you need to let go of control and let Jesus take center stage?

How could your life today point others to Him?

Think about it. Your answers just may surprise you.

Dear Father, forgive me for the times I’ve chased the spotlight, when all along it should have been on You. Empty me of myself—my need for control, my craving for recognition. Help me find true joy in reflecting Your light, not my own. Make me a window, Lord, clear and bright, so that Your grace, Your love, and Your truth shine through to everyone I meet. Use me to point others to You. Thank You for the freedom and peace that come when I step back and let You increase. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Humility is the displacement of self by the enthronement of God.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed 🙏🏼
