Underestimated…
Have you ever felt like you were underestimated? Felt like you were just a shadow on the wall that no one really listened to? Jesus could have been born in a palace, born into royalty, wealth, and influence. Instead, He was born in a manger used for animals. His mother was from a low-income family, didn’t have status or clout.
Jesus could have been raised in Rome, but he grew up in Nazareth. When He started doing miracles, people were confused. They said, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” They were saying, “This doesn’t make sense. Nobody has significant lives there.”
Another time, they said He was just the son of a carpenter. On the outside, they saw nothing special about Jesus and constantly underestimated Him. Don’t be offended if you’re underestimated. Others may try to devalue, belittle, and not give you the time of day.
That’s a sign that God is up to something unusual. The key is to not be offended, to not get distracted, to just keep doing the right thing.
What they say doesn’t determine your destiny; what they think about you doesn’t limit your future. Your time is coming. God is about to show out in your life. God uses underestimated people.
Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas?
Matthew 13:55
Father, thank You for revealing Your Son Jesus to us as the One who came to serve, to give His life for us, the One whom others saw nothing special about on the outside. Thank You that I don’t need to worry about how others see me. I believe You will show out in my life as I keep doing the right thing. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
When people underestimate you, they’re giving you a gift. You become unburdened by what they think. The pressure is off, so you can focus on doing your absolute best. You can take risks you might not otherwise take, try things others won’t.
Walk daily with God at your side!
Love always,
Ed 🙏🏼
