The Prime Directive

9 Sep

The Prime Directive….

The Crusades began when the king of Byzantium appealed to the Pope for help after the Muslims took Jerusalem. As the Crusaders marched to Jerusalem, they destroyed villages and people; Muslim, Jewish, even Christian.

During the last crusade, they pillaged Byzantium in an orgy of destruction leaving the city open to the Muslim Turk invaders who sealed its doom. The Crusades, which began to save Byzantium ended up destroying it. Therein is a crucial lesson.

It’s easy to lose sight of our original purpose of serving the Lord and end up serving money or selfish ambition, forgetting the Lord of the House for the House of the Lord, forgetting your First Love, the joy of your salvation, or the love of your marriage.

Have you forgotten your first love, or the reason you’re in the Lord, or the love you once felt for your beloved, or the fire to serve God? Have you lost your crusade? Come back to your First Love… today…

Get alone with Jesus; let Him relight your fire and renew your love, your faith, your walk, and your mission. God has not revoked your calling. You just need to remember it.

And when you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey him with all your heart and with all your soul according to everything I command you today, Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. Deuteronomy 30:2,11

Today, refocus on Him who is your Focus, re-aim on Him who is your Aim, re-purpose on Him who is your Purpose, and re-center on Him who is your Center.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

The Secret Of Quiet

8 Sep

The Secret Of Quiet…

Shalev, it’s Hebrew for quiet and tranquility. It also means success/successful. It’s different from our picture of success. Ours is filled with things, events, happenings, activity.

But in Hebrew, success is linked to the quiet. The first success in creation, was the creation. When God created the world, He saw that it was good, and He rested. The first sign of success was rest, quiet, the Sabbath.

So the sign of success in your life is rest. When you succeed, you can rest. When you are fulfilled and complete, you can cease striving. Where do you find success? You find success with God. You can strive the rest of your life to be complete.

Or you can be complete now with the completion that comes with God in Jesus. Do you want success? Come to the quiet; the quiet with God, to His peace and His shalom.

Those who can rest are complete. They have found success. ‘Shalev’ teaches us that the sign of success is not noise, but quiet. Make the quiet with God the central part of your life, and you will have success. Success is found in His quiet.

The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. Isaiah 32:17

Today, seek to enter the quiet and rest of Jesus, lay it all down and find the success of God.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed

Obedience – Following His Path (9/8)

7 Sep

Obedience – Following His Path…

By now we’ve all learned that the Bible – Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth – also contains everything we need to live a full and loving life. I’ve talked before about how, if we would insert ourselves into the passages of the Bible, our paths for life are pretty much laid out for us. I say pretty much because we were also given freewill.

The Bible is a book about ourselves, our own apostasies, our own battles and blessings. When you read the Bible, look beyond the words on the pages and realize it is a book about the basics of living a good life.

Grandfather taught me that the words are only half of what is in the Bible, we are the in between the lines. When we insert ourselves into the words the Bible takes on life, our life, and as we start living what is in the Bible our lives take on a new meaning. The love we share, the hope we bring and the light we shine seems so much brighter. Love is the center theme of life and of the Bible.

The Bible is the story of our life, the history of our world and our pathway to the future. It is a living instrument that guides us through life and is always there with a ready answer.

Grandfather said that if you have a problem or question you just can’t seem to find an answer to flip through the Bible and let it open. Then read the passages on the pages in front of you and your answer will be there. I’ve tried it many times and found it always seems to show me a way to solve my problem or answer my question.

Grandfather always preached to me about obedience and how I should follow God’s pathway as it is laid out in the Bible. God has a path for each of us to follow and the closer we follow that path, the better our life. So let’s take a closer look at that.

When the dream of your heart is one that God has planted there, a strange happiness flows into you. At that moment, all of the spiritual resources of the universe are released to help you. Your prayers are then as one with the will of God and become a channel for the Creator’s purposes for you and your world.

In the pathway of life we come to learn that the Lord’s thoughts are not our thoughts, nor His ways our ways. Both in the physical and spiritual realm, great pressure means great power. That is why when we learn to closely follow the path He has laid out for us, the easier it becomes to live our path.

Although circumstances may bring us into the place of death, that need not spell disaster, for if we trust in the Lord and wait patiently, that simply provides the occasion for the display of His almighty power.

“Remember His marvelous works that He hath done, His wonders and the judgements of His mouth.” Psalms. 105:5

While His thoughts are not ours, we are the sum total of our thoughts at any point in time. Realizing God knows our thoughts before or as we have them, we have the blessing to make the most of what we think and feel. I learned, growing up, that how you start your day sets the tone for that day.

Grandfather taught me to give thanks for another beautiful day, be joyful for how good your day was going to be and remember to give thanks for all the blessing you have received in your life. I start my day with these three little prayers of thanks every morning. God has blessed me way more than I deserve.

To say life isn’t always easy would be an understatement. But then add we determine just how easy or hard our life is would, I’m sure, give some people some real heartache. But then remember that life is 90 percent attitude and 10 percent hope.

Many people feel their life is always on the rocks and they live their life in calamity, while others feel you get out of life what you put into it and live full happy lives free of most burden. I believe if I make the best of a situation that a blessing will come from it. When a situation confronts you, if you turn in defeat you miss out on the blessing the situation has for you.

I have discovered there is a secret to an obedient life and it involves faith, trust, love and prayer. I faithfully follow the path God has given me trusting He will light my way. I love God with all my heart and I love my neighbors as He loves me. I pray continuously, listening to His answers as they are whispered in my ear. I never question His intentions for He knows my needs better than I.

All this is found in the Bible, if one is willing to look beyond the words and follow the spirit. Yes, the Bible also mentions persecution, but how one accepts it is a choice. It is a blessing to serve God. It is also a blessing to serve people in His name.

I believe that even in the darkest times, there is always a light showing me the way out. It just may be a candle at the end of the tunnel, but it shines brightly for my path.

My prayer for all is that they see the light and faithfully follow the path He has set before them. Its called obedience. Pray continuously and listen for His answers. Always remember we have two ears to hear what He is saying, two eyes to see all His blessings and one mouth give thanks for all He has done for us.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed

The Quiet Heart

7 Sep

The Quiet Heart..

A title given to Jesus: “Sar Shalom.” It means “Prince of Peace.” More than that, it means, “Prince of Shalom,” Prince of fullness, wholeness, completion, perfection, well-being, soundness, blessing, and prosperity. “Sar” means “master” or “ruler.”

Jesus is the “Ruler of Shalom,” “Master of Shalom.” He rules and commands shalom. If you belong to Him, you are called by His name, so live as a little version of Him, a little ruler of peace, a master of shalom. Become an authority on shalom, one who dwells in it, understands it, uses it, applies it, an expert on shalom.

You are empowered to become a ruler of shalom. Jesus ruled shalom; He commanded it. He said, “Shalom be to you.” In the same way, you are to command peace; rule shalom. No matter what the situation, you have the power to command the peace of Jesus into it.

Whatever you are going through, you have the power to command the shalom of Jesus upon it. Take up your scepter, act with authority, His authority. You are called and empowered to be a ruler of peace; a master of shalom.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Matthew 5:9

Today, live in imitation of Jesus, and take authority over the darkness, in the power of the Master of Shalom.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed

The Servent’s Light

5 Sep

The Servent’s Light…

The Shamash candle is the servant candle, the ministering candle. This candle carries the first light and lights all the other candles. It’s not just the Shamash. It’s the Shamash Light.

There’s a profound connection here. Jesus is the Shamash of the Lord, the “Servant of the Lord.” He is also, “the Light of the World,” the Light that lights up the light of man. He is the Shamash Light. The two go together.

It means the one who serves the Lord, will be a light. The one who does the will of God, will shine. The more you serve and obey the Lord, do the will of God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, the more you will shine with the light of God. The more your life will radiate with His glory.

If you’re not shining, chances are you’re not serving the Lord – not with all your heart. Serve the Lord with gladness and you’ll shine with the radiance of God. Your light will light up the lives of those around you, for you, in Jesus… are the Shamash light.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Serve the Lord today – not only with gladness but shining with the “Shamash light.”

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed

Snakes Have No Ears

3 Sep

Snakes Have No Ears…

Most snakes have no real sense of hearing. They can sense vibrations, but they have no ears. In the natural realm, serpents are just another creature. Yet in the spiritual realm, they represent the powers of darkness.

In the spiritual realm, faith is linked to hearing. Snakes have no ears to hear, so the enemy doesn’t live by faith. The powers of darkness cannot handle faith. The enemy attacks in the realm of no faith. He wants you to doubt – doubt God’s goodness, faithfulness, provision.

When you give in to doubt, then discouragement, anger, anxiety, and the propensity to sin comes. This is seen clearly from the Garden of Eden to the temptation of Jesus. You defeat the enemy by faith.

It is written that when the flaming arrows of the enemy come your way, you’ll extinguish them by the shield of faith. When that thought of discouragement, anxiety, doubt, bitterness, or temptation comes your way, lift up the shield of faith.

Stand by the Word. Hold to His love. Declare His goodness. The serpent is deaf, but you are not. Use your advantage. Stand by faith and crush the serpent underfoot.

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 10:17

Stand strong and be ready to use the ‘shield of faith’ today when the enemy comes your way.

Walk daily with God at your side!

Love always,

Ed
