The Ant

The Ant…

I once was attempting to show mercy to an ant. I was trying to lead it around some obstacles in its path to freedom outside. But the problem was, I was dealing with a super dumb ant. It kept going the wrong way, no matter what I did to lead it to safety.

Now ants do indeed have brains the size of very tiny breadcrumbs. But this ant didn’t seem to have an high I.Q. All it needed to do was to trust me. Had it trusted me, that ant would have functioned as if it had possessed super-intelligence compared to its fellow ants — functioning on the reasoning of a human brain, well so I thought.

However, compared to God, our intelligence is even less than that of a breadcrumb-sized brain and we seem to have the same problem. So if you’re wise, you won’t rely on your own intelligence and understanding. If you do, you’ll be living like that dumb ant.

But if you trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, then the Lord will direct your path and you won’t live your life like a dumb ant.

Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it. Proverbs 8:33

Don’t rely on your own understanding, but seek to be led in all things by the Spirit, the wisdom, and the mind of God.
